Does anyone own any salvaged wood pieces by RH? I am looking at two dining tables in particular- the Trestle Table and the Gun Barrel Table. Both are beautiful and unique although the wood being unfinished worries me. The CSR rep at RH told me for daily maintenance mild soap and water can be used. I've also read than people have used Monocoat oil finish to protect. Im also wondering if the Salvaged Brown color enhances the wood's natural beauty like the pine color does... My other concern is the warping- I understand it's natural but am wondering if anyone knows if the smaller planks (on the Gun Barrel Table) wood warp more or less than the wider ones on the Trestle Table... If anyone owns these or has any info regarding maintenance/care for salvaged wood pieces I'd appreciate feedback. Thank you.

Hi Wanda- Please, please do not buy chairs from the Internet. Chairs have to be comfortable and sturdy and made to last and support even big people. You are much better off going to charity stores craigslist and tag sales looking for sets of chairs made of solid wood and recovering the seat cushions and painting the wood. These stores have so many of these sets now! It is so easy to cover a chair seat and not difficult to learn how to paint the wood or you can leave the wood the way it is or just sand and varnish it.

Can you post a picture? I am getting a sofa table that will be next to my DR table and I’m having it made by a local craftsman. He’s matching the wood of my table. In my case, legs are white and table a light-medium wood. He’s doing that for the sofa table. A picture will help though.

I think it would look very odd to have the top and the bottom finished in a different stain. You can try a "quick and dirty" fix and if that doesn't fix it to your satisfaction, then do a full refinish. Try mixing 2/3 shellac thinner with 1/3 lacquer thinner and, in a small area at a time, brush it on....let it sit for about a minute and wipe with a paper towel. Do in a well ventilated place, and be careful not to drip the solution on other parts of the table...if it does drip let it dry in place and do not try to wipe it. When it is all even looking, then finish with 2 coats of polyurethane varnish.
