My new living room-Before and After/Lots of Pics
Comments (12)Thank you all for your messages! rucnmom----omg is his voice annoying or what?! I didnt even realize he was in the pic lol. msrose---dh was against us replacing the carpet as our old one was in such nice good condition. but it was kelly green during the day, forest green at night and i couldn't handle it anymore. soooooo, to get me to keep quiet, he allowed me to order a new one. whoo hoo!! dgmarie----i thought of changing the curtains but i begged him about a year and 1/2 ago to let me buy them and they cost me $160 a window so i have to live with them at least another year. i have no where else I can use them and it would be wasteful to just get rid of them. *sighs* happyladi-----i had the table next to the sofa but it blocked the clock. i have to wait to ask DH to move the clock and the pics. for now i can live with it. :o) i was so excited to share all of this with you!!!...See MoreOMG Laundry Room Finished! Comments (30)hey_j - For the wall color I mentioned it was very close to BM's Mexican Tile it is because I actually don't know the name of the paint color. I went to the Habitat for Humanity Store which sells used household renovation items (perhaps some of you have one in your community). Anyways I went to this store as I wanted some antique style door handles (which I found for $1.00 each!) and while I was there I found this can of paint for $8.00 - guess it was a mistint from some store that was donated to Habitat and I just had to jump on it and turned out great. I went through my BM swatches and found it to be very close to BM Mexican Tile. Originally I painted the cabinets Desert Tan by BM and it looked HORRIFIC! LOL so I had to repaint them all over again YIKES! But it was totally worth it as the Tahoe color is so soothing I love it. What is so great about my husband making these cabinets is that it was his first time making anything like it and I think he did a wonderful job. Also by doing this we did it at a fraction of the cost and it has all the little personal touches from him - the little heart on the shelf valance etc etc. Mustang - I love the light fixture too. It was left here by the previous owners who are my husbands parents. They had this light hanging by a chain link about the stairs and the scale was all wrong so we removed the chain link - put it in a smaller area flush to the ceiling and it is just perfect now. I am thinking the fixture is about 30+ years old and has a beautiful 'antiquey' feel to it....See MoreLiving room done! Before & after pics :)
Comments (14)Thank you everyone! Your comments are very sweet, we have really enjoyed this little room since it's been done. susanjn, I don't remember the exact name...it's by Valspar, it's one of the super dark glossy paint chips that's all by itself...and I think it either has merlot or wine in the title...It's just the perfect purple, not Barney-ish and not maroon!...See More85% Finshed French Ikea Kitch need help - before and after pics!!
Comments (13)Bonjour Belle cuisine ! Ooooooo La La. You have done a lovely job. A bright glass tile would be wonderful. Or super tiny octagonal tiles perhaps a few in the slate color you like but the rest in whites, grays, creams and a favorite color. Slate is beautiful but the gray might cool the room to much. You need more warmth. (birght colors)Yes Madame Hospital needs a little color. :) What colors do you and your husband love? What colors and style are you using for bar stools or perhaps kitchen curtains? Or maybe a frame pictures. Not too much color as you don't want to crowd the space I assume you like clean lines and simplicity. No Pendants it will fight with the hood. If you do use shelves be sure to pick items that would be lovely to see when sitting in the LR. Vases or nicely shaped coffee mugs. Something bright or warmer to add to the color you might be using as accents. Here are some pictures of small kitchens that might give you some ideas of how to finish off your beautiful space. Open shelves Idea. If you do not want clutter this may not work for you but it is one idea. This reminded me of your kitchen. The picture kind of pulls it together. The gray might give you the idea of slate if you did go ahead with slate. This backsplash brightens this kitchen up. It is hard to see but it is light blue green glass tile. this back splash might work for you too. See the open shelves to the left. So many ideas so many ways to be creative. Plants can also warm up a room without over powering it with clutter. Je souhaite que j'aie été en France aussi. Enjoy your home in France. ~boxerpups...See MoreMaria G.
