I saw some sheet vinyl by Tarkett at a recent ditributor's showcase and I was blown away by the realism of the wood, tile and stone patterns. The pattern registrations were quite accurate and gave a good clear picture of the genuine article that was used as the model. You want the look of wood and something that is durable and easy to maintain. You can definitely find that in sheet vinyl. Just buy the best you can afford in that category and you should be very pleased with your purchase....See MoreCeramic /porcelain floor tiles that look like hardwood
Comments (8)We have a similar tile around our wood-burning stove at our cottage. The walls of our cottage are light pine, so we went with darker brown (that matches the knots in the pine wall) engineered wooden planks. Then we used slate tiles around the fireplace. This is the best pic I have on me, you can see it a bit....See MoreWhat floors look best next to hardwood-look tile floors?
Comments (5)The best DESIGN option = same tile throughout. The sad thing is the tile may no longer be available. Now you are into some weird design elements that no one explained at the time you installed the wood-look tile. In essence you have "wet" areas that are covered in "wood". You are now looking at having to put traditional looking tile or stone in the living areas normally reserved for wood. This is Bass Akwards in the eyes of many (myself included). Personally, being a cork flooring expert, I would replace carpet with cork floating flooring. It is soft and quiet and is NOT wood looking. But I know cork and I know how to live with its eccentricities. I'm 1% of the population. The other 99% can't handle cork. In an ideal world, you would have used a stone look tile in the kitchen areas and a wood-look tile for the rest of the house because that's traditionally where you would put wood. I would check to see if you can find the original wood-look tile. Be aware you will have issues with colour - assuming you can find the same product. Comments (3)I guess the next step depends on how far you want to go with a remodel. it looks like the ceilings and wall are clear douglas fir, beautiful. for flooring, bring home samples of what you like and look at them throughout the day and night, as your room has so much natural light, the colors will change a lot. if you think you may re-do your kitchen floors, i’d recommend a clear swedish finish on the red oak. i owned a similar 50’s modern home in seattle with red oak floors and they turned out beautifully, not amber at all. the swedish finish is a semi matte finish, easy to care for and doesn’t give glare from the light coming in from your windows. if you extend this flooring into the living room, it will make the house feel very cohesive and authenic. best of luck, its a lovely home....See More- 6 years agofionafars thanked Creative Ceramic & Marble/ Bill Vincent
