Thanks everyone for your advice and help. I know I must look impatient, but I've been staring at this stupid wall for months and months. What seems like minutes to y'all has really been months for me. I tried the easiest suggestion of disassembling the sectional and it simply just doesn't work. If it broke apart differently, but it doesn't and after breaking it apart and slinging the parts all over the room I've abandoneed that idea (which would be a great one if the thing would break apart right). While it is a great suggestion and was my original concept for the room, I've already had the sectional under the window and it didn't work; it is too wide and accentuates the narrowness of the space. I know this flies in the face of magazine decorating, but I think it is silly to have a room set up so you can't really watch the TV when the major purpose of the room is the TV. But if I also don't want the TV to be the first thing a person sees when they walk into a room, IYKWIM? I really like the moulding ideas. I've been thinking about that and seeing pictures inspires me and will help me explain what I'm thinking to my husband. Good ideas there, well, good ideas everywhere; I wish I could make some of these ideas work. I guess I have to make a decision: fashion or comfort. I have another couch and loveseat that reflects my taste better, more french country, but they aren't nearly as comfortable as the big, sprawly sectional and I think I might have to repaint since there is a lot of green in the other set. We bought this sectional because our entire family could sprawl out and watch TV, but now we're empty nesters and I'm rethinking it. Finally, dawnp, I do love this picture a lot. If I keep the sectional then that is maybe a good direction to go.

Alas never took a photo of it as far as I can remember. This one is similar and looks to be about the same size. MIne had more detail outside but no drawers. I was looking for a larger piece but the labels on the shelves won my heart and being small it fit nicely into the small bedroom. Celestina, I had a half rack of that sort of design made of cast metal that might have been brass that fit nicely in the front hall. Fastened to studs it took up far less room and couldn't fall over. Sold that on eBay long ago and had never seen anything like it since until just now. Pictures are upside down but it is exactly the same design. If you could find a shoe cubby that looked okay with the old fashioned vibe it would terrific looking so long as you manage to keep it cleared off. You wouldn't think something that simple could hold so much! I really like the pieces acm found particularly the wood and metal 3 shelf one. Just work really hard to keep the number of things hung to a dull roar.

The fan should be centered on the room. Can you move it? How about doing some recessed lighting? Once you get a larger console and some other elements to the side of the console, it won't be such an issue to center it on the island or the fan. (forget the island, the room should be centered around the room itself) if you did a larger sofa, one w/a chaise, or a sectional, you could prob finagle moving it so that it's under the fan. Personally, I'd trade that fan for something else. if you need a fan, then get something updated looking. If you don't, and just need lighting, get an actual light of some sort. ideas for windows. get some drapes like so: raise your rods another 6" or above your window or woven woods or solar shades as for the long wall, part of it may be for the console and tv, and further down you may want to do a bookcase or game table or something. look into Ikea hacks for these bookcases and tv media centers. great ideas this would take up a lot of wall space and your could mount your tv above it.

Thank you! I wish I had though to measure the positioning of the doors. I think you are right though the only place for a tv will have to be between the windows- the only other available wall space is the main walking pathway. The house is under major Reno right now so it's hard to access it. Here is a "before" pic looking towards the front door, hopefully the after is much better!
