Small, narrow living room - help!
Comments (19)You are so welcome, laurensing. You are asking the wrong person for a rug suggestion that is subtle. It's not that I like crazy rugs, but I would go for something interesting. The sofa and art are a starter. For rugs, I do best on craigslist or estate sales, or anthropologie rugs on sale. You can find a quality wool handmade rug for a great price and just bring it straight to the cleaners. The cheap poly rugs are not appealing to me. You were very smart to start with a classic sofa design and color. Looks like the entrance goes right into the living room. If it's right off the street, be careful about a light rug or a rug with a light background, as it will get dirty so fast and a dark rug, especially without a design, shows every little piece of lint (drives me crazy). Here's an 8x10 from anthropologie https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/geo-megali-rug?category=sale-rugs&color=005&quantity=1&size=8%E2%80%99%20X%2010%E2%80%99&type=REGULAR I like this for your room also and might consider the garnet color which would be amazing on your wood floors, as it has that mahogany color in the rug. https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/meralda-rug?category=sale-rugs&color=006&quantity=1&size=9%E2%80%99%20X%2012%E2%80%99&type=REGULAR...See MoreLong Living Room Set up
Comments (17)You're right. I was looking at the window width as being the room width, so figuring each square to equal 9". Is there a post 3' into the doorway? Where that grey dot is? If so just less than 2' is too narrow for passage from TV end to window end. Really inconvenient to have to go out and around especially when cleaning. If not then yes, it could work though still too crowded for my taste. There are smaller scale sectionals that are readily available. I have to say, I haven't read anything that indicates more than 10' from TV is a problem. But I am far from an expert. Maybe you are going by the size of your screen when you find that info? I know I regularly watch shows on my 20" computer monitor from 14 feet back or so and although it isn't optimal it works. And that's a tiny screen and not particularly high quality....See MoreHow to Layout Long Living room with 5 doors/doorways & 3 windows?!
Comments (10)Thank you! I wish I had though to measure the positioning of the doors. I think you are right though the only place for a tv will have to be between the windows- the only other available wall space is the main walking pathway. The house is under major Reno right now so it's hard to access it. Here is a "before" pic looking towards the front door, hopefully the after is much better!...See MoreLong narrow living room, no entry way
Comments (6)Thank you so much! So, we don't have 2 dressers; just that teal one right by the front door. We use it for storage bc, again, our house is quite small. But it's for things going "out" of the house at the top, and then the bottom for other household things like placemats/napkins and gift wrap. There are no doors, but right in front of the front door, it opens to the kitchen/bar area. I'll attach a photo of that too right now. The furniture is ours, but was from zillow from when we were going to rent it a few years ago. And excuse the mess in the photo, i literally just hopped up and took it. As for your other questions, we are a family of 4, so we use the big couch quite a bit but are open to a couch/chair option or something different. And this is also where our TV is - right now on top of the console table. We used to have the TV and couch flipped around, and changed it for a different view....See MoreSaypoint zone 6 CT
