Agree with houssaon about removing the shutters. Keep the white fascia and trim and porch posts. Do you have a favorite bold color that you might want for your front entry door color rather than white? If so, you might also consider painting your white porch chair(s) that same color. You could add a post with a solar light and brackets for a pair of hanging baskets centered in front of the windows to the right beside your porch. You could add some plants around the post that will climb the post and provide colorful blooms. You might add a plain concrete bird bath to your yard. You could create a walkway to the bird bath with pavers with grass in between the pavers.

Shutters should appear to be operable, so they would need to be as wide as the window... so if closed, they would cover the window. So no shutters on your house. I agree with taking out the boxwood that have been butchered. If you take the bed all the way to the sidewalk, you need a pocket bed on the left side. We had several over 30ft tall at our last house, but you don't want one too tall right next to the house. Having lived in the South all my life, I don't have a problem with the grass since we get rain. No idea where you live, but the grass looks healthy. Unless you want to spend every weekend gardening, or hire a gardener, I would not go to the extreme of removing the grass. If there room for a wooden bench on the front porch?

Great house! Try painting the shutters the same color as the rest of the trim, but remove the shutters from the upper window - they don't fit. Then try medium to dark wood color or shiny dark green for the door, with a big brass knocker. The tree to the right of the door just needs to be thinned so you can see a little more of the house. It’s hard to see the cedar in the photos due to the existing plants. Personally I like the natural stained cedar as it doesn’t require painting every few years. For landscape, check out homes with landscaping you like. Take photos to a local garden center (not a big box store) and ask what they’d recommend. Your neighbors may also be willing to share plant divisions for free. My neighbors outshot Boston have shared many plants with me over the years. Foundation shrubs are really good to plant in the fall as the temps are lower. I don’t have Texas garden experience so I recommend finding local people for advice. Your existing shrubs may just need pruning rather than removal. Good luck and keep us posted.
