ISO 66' tub with apron, integral flange -- and deeper than 16'?
Comments (14)Gibby3000 - The model we have has flanges on three sides, which made it ideal for a three-wall installation. It says it can also be used as a drop in model. It does not have an apron, so you have to put something in front, tile or whatever. We originally thought we'd do beadboard, like we did around the walls, but somehow we got talked out of it by tiler and contractor. I think our tile placement created a bit of a lip, but you can run the tile/beadboard right flush with the edge of the tub itself, for a sleeker look. This is admittedly a boxy looking tub, and Kohler makes other softer-edged tubs/whirlpools that are still as big. And as you can read here on GW, lots of people have gotten fine ones made by other companies. As for the shower enclosure: We have a friend who did a shower 'shield'' about 2/3 or halfway across her tub. It doesn't open or close as it is stationary. It's a different kind of tub. She says there is a little bit of water running onto the floor, but she's still happy with it. We decided on the hinged one because it allowed us to run the glass along a bigger stretch of the tub opening, thus preventing more leakage, and with the door opene, it makes it easier to get in and out. It also gives us the option of leaving the door open when bathing, and enabling us to sit at the edge of the tub and swing our legs over, as you say. It's working out well that way. As for the price of this tub, it's always less anywhere than the list price on the Kohler website. We got ours at Expo. Comments (5)If you can find a store with tubs on display that you can actually sit in, that would be the ideal way to find a tub. We have a store like that here in Tucson, so I'm hopeful you could find one in your area. I just googled curved glass shower doors, and came up with a hit at ultimateglass.com, so I'm thinking you should be able to get those curved shower doors. Kohler's website should tell you the nearest showrooms. You could call and see if they have the tub that you like to actually sit in it before you buy it. Also, so you know, I'm 68" tall and still have to bend my knees significantly in a 72" tub in an 84" wide space. So I'm really wondering if a 60" long space is going to be able to provide a tub that is really comfortable for you. Also, I was just in a hotel that had the rim of the tub right up against the wall, and so there was nowhere to lay my head along the rim of the tub. As an option, there are tons of fantastic walk-in shower options out there. You could also install a steam shower with a really comfortable bench in the space that you have. If you really want a tub that you can soak in and stretch out in, I think there are some out there deep enough and long enough. Find the tub and then find the space. Good luck!...See MoreISO 30x60 cast iron tub for alcove
Comments (17)Jas-space, I really don't know! Fyi, I don't particularly love the Sunrise tub and wish we had gone with the Porcher (I had sinks on my mind when I wrote "Porcher Sink" for the link above!) as it would have been better quality. As I said above, we just went with the tub that could reach us sooner so as to avoid delays. Actually, on the subject of wishes, I wish we had just built a walk-in shower and ditched the tub altogether!! Back to the thread, I think both tubs would work in the tight space mentioned... Comments (34)writersblock I don't really know either. That's why I contacted the manufacturer. Their customer service people don't seem to know the answer. Most manufacturers put this information on the technical drawings, but not Maax. On the drawings for both tubs, the overflow center is listed at 17.5 but it's measuring from the base of the leveling feet, not the interior of the tub. And the center of the drain still has an inch or so below it (so the water would be at most 16.5 deep). When I asked the salesperson to clarify, they said the water depth on the Maax Pose tub was "about 20 inches" which has to be wrong. Seeking clarification, I contacted Maax directly. So far they have told me three different answers: 17.5" less than 12" about 14.5" I guess the 14.5 is the correct answer, as that sounds about right. I want a tub where the water is at least 17.5 inches deep so the Maax tub won't work. I'm now leaning towards the Lacey or Sydney from Hydro Systems....See MoreAnn
