Day 28 Overseeding/Renovation Advice Needed (Pics included)
Comments (3)I agree with the fertilization. You may also be watering too much as the requirement is greatly reduced in cooler weather. In any case, yellowing at the 28 day mark is not a good sign. Any signs of fungus?...See MoreNeed advice on saving my rhodondendron please! - Pics included
Comments (4)Your shrub doesn't look sunburned to me; I suspect you are seeing the results of not enough water. Sunburn would show as light yellow leaves, often with brownish burned areas on the sunny side of the plant. Healthy rhododendrons will live much longer than we do :) - they don't get tired and stop producing flowers, drop their leaves, due to age. You might consider that the plants sited on your side with more sun require more water than those in shade. Prune away anything clearly dead (you can do a scratch test with a fingernail and see if there is any life under the bark) with sharp shears and try providing more regular water. The inexpensive oozing type soaker hoses work well - you can turn them on before leaving the house in the morning and turn them off at dinner time - here where our summers are cooler (and soil is clayish) approx once a week for several hours for established shrubs works well but you'd have to adjust that to your own climate. And, rhododendrons expend a lot of energy setting seed that would otherwise have been directed to flower bud production. You would see more blooms on your larger plant if you had snapped off the spent flower trusses (so no seed was set) when blooming was finished....See MoreAdvice for caring for my seedlings (pics included)
Comments (3)The has been a slow accumulation over the past year to two years depending on when the cactus was potted. Those pots are usually bone dry. I think we have hard water here because it leaves deposits on the shower walls after a while too although im not sure if these things are related....See MoreNeed advice about shower leak (pics included)
Comments (4)A couple things you can do: 1) Make sure the drain holes in the horizontal track are all open. 2) Caulk where the frame meets the wall. 3) Caulk the inside corner where the the horizontal track meets the vertical portion, since water can get into that hairline gap. 4) Caulk that open gap you have. For all of these, I would use 100% silicone (or "silicone II"). It can be messy for a novice, so use masking tape for both sides. Apply, then wet your finger and smooth it/remove excess (wiping finger with dry paper towel), then immediately peel away the masking tape (have a trash can ready). Then wet finger again and "tool" it lightly (smooth it) one more time if it needs it. Let dry. Enjoy....See MoreCreative Ceramic & Marble/ Bill Vincent
