Lighting Design Dilemma Kitchens

We are considering these cabinets for our kitchen (see second photo below) and will have a 4x9 island. The hood will remain the color of the wall cabinets just the island will be a different color. My question is we love these PotteryBarn Bolton indoor/outdoor lanterns in Bronze. Will these be to dark for over the island? Will they be lost? Every picture I see with these lanterns they are set against a white or light colored cabinet. Should we do a different color so they stand out?

The kitchen cabinets are Cherry stained with a Coffee finish and Black Glaze. The Summit door style with beaded Inset is clean and classic; A special feature in this kitchen is the custom paint color. There are two main colors in this kitchen. Should the hood remain the other color so the lanterns stand out. Any island light suggestions would be appreciated.

The cabinets are one color only I hope and the island is another I hope???

Not two different colors of cabinets on the wall?!?

There are different lanterns in different colors very similar. Are you sold on this one lantern? Do you know the size you need and if they work in the space? The height of the ceiling and the length and width of what they hang go over? I looked at 3 pages of lanterns on the Bellacor site and there were 94 pages... Make sure this light you chose is the right size before you worry about it blending in with the cabinets as you may want to get a muted silver or black???

Here is how they handled the ceilings in two Brooklyn Brownstone kitchens. The first uses an off-center Tolomeo ceiling fixture with very small recessed lights at the intersection of the coffers. The second I am not sure what they did regarding any medallion but in both they preserved the ceiling as much as possible.

DIY paint on this island..older cabinets? do more prep and I'd abandon the blue. Get a white with the correct undertones for your space [ best you can afford] semi gloss cabinet paint. You will be touching this up...[busy spot] as well blue will fade/ so touch ups and knicks and everything will give you headaches. first pic is a busy spot and the semi gloss or full gloss white paint will be easy to maintain. the blue and black options show much higher gloss levels than your paint swatch ....which will be essential. but touch ups due to the color will present issues/ and there will be touch ups.

Sometimes the way the room is arranged suggests that pendants aren't necessary or contra-indicated. I don't have pendants over my island, just two recessed lights and I don't have any desire to add pendants when I remodel. There is plenty of light in the room. IMO, you would be better off putting a chandelier over the dining table and not having pendants in the kitchen. Just rearrange and add to your recessed lights to cover the area more evenly. It looks like six should do it. Is there an extra one in the middle row because of where the island used to be? When you install LVP, make sure you don't make it impossible to get a dishwasher in and out of the spot for it since the level of the floor is going to be raised. The previous owners of our house did that, except they trapped it, and now we can't pull it out to service it.
