How do I turn it on?

I can't remember...let me go poke around in my account.

Go to "Your Houzz" - then click on "edit profile" (box on the upper right).

From there, click on advanced settings and scroll down. You'll see a place for messaging and you can turn it on there.

If you don't want to receive messages after you get the link, you can go back in and turn it off.
