Dark office: embrace it or fight it?

Hi All,

Could use some opinions on an office revamp. It has WHITE modern built-in desk and drawers along an entire wall, a dark wood WALNUT floor, and one window with LOW LIGHT. It looks like a cave when you walk by the doorways (it has two - one from the foyer, one from the kitchen). Previous owners painted it a pale sky blue, which makes it gloomier. I'm trying to decide between embracing the dark with a deep rich warm color, maybe a Moroccan orange, and eventually adding more recessed lights. But then I think perhaps I should try to lighten it, even though I think it's mostly a lost cause. I have several collections and I'm thinking of featuring one of them on the giant wall: exotic international masks, faux animal heads of all different materials from around the globe, or a series of modern Socialist Realist paintings with a few mid-century moderns works as well. I'll probably finish off the look with a Persian rug to pull it together.

Any thoughts on the light versus dark paint issue? I work from home in here so I hate to make it too dark, but I am partial to Moroccan colors that would really set off any of my collections.

Thanks much!
