Comments (22)GM = Green Mafia. As a farmer I can find a dozen different sites that will (including universities) that will contradict everything the Green Mafia claims. Look as a young man in my teens and 20's I was a very far left Hippie. So far left I was a card carrying member of the Socialist Party, Green Peace, and the Sierra Club. I carried out acts of terrorism because that is what those groups do; aka Green Mafia. In the mid and late 70's I protested nuclear power plants. One in which we succeeded in preventing from being built. After graduating from college with BS in Electrical Engineering I went to work with a electric utility with every intention of destroying them within in the name of a tree. Then after about a year I put down the bong and grew up. I finally realized I was ignorant and stupid living ideology. After that I was a dedicated engineer motivated to make a difference. Then God called me to farming, and a farmer I was until my former retirement. Si I have a lot of respect for our land, and what GM is preaching is mostly BS hell bent on destroying agricultural business like every other far left organization. OK my point is you need to diversify your reading and consider the source. From your past replies and responses you seek sources of information which tell you what you want to hear and read. In other words you want to seek information that says agricultural business is bad for the world and needs eliminated like oil and gas companies. I can tell you as a farmer if it were not for agricultural companies and business we would be a 3rd world country looking for handouts. No other country in the world can match our production and efficiency. It is what makes us strong. If you do not like that, then......See MorePellets for Lawn and Puppy
Comments (5)It won't hurt your pup to eat the pellets. I have spread them on my yard and I don't recall the dogs eating them much. If you can time the spread, shortly before a rainfall, they will dissolve fairly quickly. Now, If you spread bloodmeal, the dogs will lick the soil and grass for about two weeks....See MoreA scare:
Comments (4)I'm sure you remember using the sprinkling can to dump used oil on the stone road to keep the dust down. I do. I am working at my third company that used deep wells to dispose of all their nasty chemicals. The first one from 1969 is currently a superfund site. That same company dumped all their other stuff into my grandparent's minehole and that also became a DER site. We had so many mineholes in this part of PA and they all became municipal dumps. You'd back up the car to the edge and throw everything into the hole. I remember the water being yellow, back in the '50s....See Morenow i'm scared!
Comments (1)Dig up more lawn? They'll be fine. They won't become crowded the first year or so anyway, & in your zone you'll probably lift them each winter. Cannas look beautiful when they're "shoulder to shoulder": they make a sort of lush green tropical arrangement. If they spread too much, you'll have some to share!...See MoreMrs. S
