I need help with a jungle room for a wild toddler (pic included)
Comments (16)Typed out a long post yesterday and then lost it! Ugh! Anyway, to summarize: 1. Consider getting neutral bedding and adding in your jungle theme with accessories like just the pillows and removable decal. That way, if your son just LOVES something else down the road, you can easily change it with the pillows and other minor accessories. 2. Your son's bed looks a little high-- though I have short kids, so maybe not for him. There are really cute stepstools with a jungle theme-- some are mass produced (check Target and Amazon) but you can also find them on Etsy. 3. Since you are open to removing the TV, I'd say not to put art supplies in there since I find bedrooms not to be the best place for that with young kids. (Depends on your child, though.) You could have baskets of books and open-ended toys. A radio/CD player is always nice, too. Could be a fun dance space! 4. I'd either lower the white shelves if they are for your son-- they do not look to be at a child's eye level, OR keep them up high but use them for breakable items. It's a good idea to literally get down at his level and see how accessible things are, what his view is, etc. Hang things for HIM, not for adults. VERY cute room!...See MoreWhat color curtains for my living room ?
Comments (6)Have you ever seen dark sheer curtains used in a room makeover or on House Hunters, For Rent, etc.? I really do not like the look of really dark curtains used in a room with light walls and light carpeting as you have. If there is no extreme need for heavy curtains for privacy, I would agree that a neutral tone from colors in your nice rug would be a good idea. Here is a thought: find some somewhat sheer panels at a store near you; purchase with the stipulation that you can return them; take them home, open one package, thread that shear onto a curtain rod, dowel, or even a yard stick, then have someone hold up that one section of curtain on the edge of your window, next to a section of wall. You view it from all angles and even at different times of the day and at night. Lay down the curtain briefly on top of your rug to see if it blends well with the colors in the rug also. Look at open weave fabrics in the choices for curtains or a thin stripe design - something with some interest and texture instead of just plain. I love your LR! IMHO, that large space over the sofa is just perfect for a much larger picture or a group of pictures. Teresa...See MoreToddler Room Paint Color?
Comments (13)When I was a small child, my bedroom had plain white walls and old brown shag carpet. It was fine by me. I'm not familiar enough with paint manufacturers to be able to name specific colors (nor do I have any brochures on hand), but I think a creamy pale gold/yellow would be lovely. Taupe or beige or greige seem too "neutral" and blah to me, especially for a kid's room. I'd go white before going taupe/beige/greige/gray. The creamy yellow will give you a cheerier room that can grow up with the kid and still be appropriate for any use of the room....See MoreSizing of curtains for toddler's room with sloped/slanted ceiling!
Comments (0)The window in our daughter's room measures 82 inches wide. We are looking to add blackout curtains to her room. We like these ones from Pottery Barn Kids but they only come in one width (44 inches) : https://www.potterybarnkids.ca/evelyn-blackout-panel-girl?location=&quantity=1&attribute_2=Lavender From what I've read, curtains should be 1.5-2x the width of the window. When I spoke to someone at the store, they thought 4 panels might be a bit much in terms of bunching of the fabric and suggested I get 3 panels for an asymmetrical look (stacked to one side). Would that work with the slanted ceiling in my daughter's room or am I better of looking elsewhere for curtains that would fit so I can have an equal number of panels on each side? I've included pictures of her room below. Thanks!...See Moremedia4
