RRD in my CT Garden

Yesterday I posted photos of an RRD infected Gemini in my CT Garden, 8 miles south of Elizabeth Park on the CT Rose Society's Facebook page. Elizabeth Park had the first reported CT instance of RRD in 2009. Two witches brooms and two distorted rubbery canes--the plant did have a hyperthorny cane two weeks ago when I was selecting roses for the rose show, but that just put it on my watch list. I carefully cut the plant down to minimize the drift of mites and bagged it. Then I dug out the roots as best I could, they went pretty deep into my clay soil. Hopefully the early detection and removal will keep losses to a minimum. No, its not herbicide spray. It was in the 2nd row of my cutting garden and no other plants are affected.
