Please check my thinking on this counter depth?
Comments (10)Thank you all for your thoughts. This is a huge help as I try to sort out my range wall plan. Madeline616 - The slab on the wall is White Macaubas quartzite. Definitely do not want any heat damage on this stone. The range is a BlueStar, and unless I am misunderstanding, it vents through the island trim. Seems that my situation is not much different than yours was. Thank you for advising about potential heat damage to the white stone, and for sharing your own solution. I think a little space between the range and the slab is indeed a good idea even if it means loosing a little space in the aisle. Angie_DIY - I will be careful to have the start of the doors on the range completely clear the end of the slab doors on the cabinets to avoid damage to my cabinets. It must be late, because I think I just made that sound way more complicated than it should have! If the outermost face of the range body (not including doors) extends 1/4 inch beyond the outermost face of the cabinet doors, does that seem reasonable? localeater - My beloved GC is going to think I am so smart when I suggest your idea tomorrow! If what you are suggesting will work for me, it helps with the concerns here, plus helps with a trim issue that I hadn't even thought about until I pictured your suggestion. I might win DH points with this suggestion as well as it's his trim work that will look better if I can use your idea. Funny how a half inch of drywall can matter so much!...See MoreI think I found it!!! Gorgeous counters that look like marble!
Comments (41)Thanks again, Barb, for your helpful comments! Rebecca, that is great to hear that you also chose the Pental Carrara - and your kitchen is beautiful! I doubt I will be able to see a Pental Carrara slab until fabrication, but I think that's the way we're going....I also had thought our countertops were going to be the C. Stone London Grey, but I think the Pental sample is just as attractive. AGK, I would also suggest you look at Cambria Torquay, which is a carrara looking quartz. It is very nice looking. Some love it and others don't like the look as much, due to tiny "dots" within the pattern. I personally preferred the C.Stone samples for that reason, but photos I've seen of Torquay counters are lovely. I also considered neolith, but couldn't find fabrication info about it in my area - I've heard it makes a great counter....See Morecounter support for island - pics before counter installed?
Comments (24)I would strongly recommend AGAINST buying ANY CounterBalance product... they will completely hose the homeowner / DYI consumer. Just compare the price for the brackets between http://counterbalanceshop.com and http://www.chemical-concepts.com/counterbalance.php The same product will cost you $114 at the first site and $81 at the second. Really??? THEY ARE BOTH THE SAME VENDOR. I tried to place an order based upon the info on the Chemical site (didn't even know about the counterbalance site) and they wouldn't honor the price posted. Don't do business with this vendor who isn't interested in doing business with you. Vendor's words: "I could care less about" selling to consumers. STAY AWAY !!! Find a local machine shop who is interested in doing business at a fair price/profit. The product is a VERY simple job for any machine shop to produce. Chemical concepts doesn't even make the product -- they sell glue. For the person who wanted to know where they could get metal support bars, here is an option: http://metalworking.mscdirect.com/CGI/MWSRCH?N=32003649 I don't have any experience with them, so I don't know if their prices/policies are good or bad. I just found them from doing a bit of searching....See MoreMSI quartz sample does not match installed counter tops
Comments (23)Yes you're right! So I had the old Carrara marmi and they were getting a new lot in June that would be whiter so I think that ended up being the difference. They said the company switched manufacturers and the whole lot they had received was the off white tone of marmi. It's identical to the first picture! I had no idea there was a new vs old. Luckily they were very helpful and are allowing me to pick out any quartz from the show room and replace it for $300 whichever I choose. I could have gotten the new marmi but I would have to wait until June when it comes in. This felt like a great option to me though as the higher up quartz was not really in my price range at all. So I am happy with that and I got to look through many different styles of white quartz slabs in the warehouse and bring a few home to decide. They are going to replace the whole thing. Now I just have to choose between Cararra Morro and Calacutta Clara!...See Moreericakn
