Landscape Design Design Dilemma entry

Door knocker for smaller entry?

We have a red entry door on our white house. There is a smaller garage entry door which is white and sits back a bit from the red door. Both doors have brass hardware and kickplates. The red entry door has a brass door knocker. Would it be okay to add one to the smaller door as well, or would it be too much and appear tacky?

If I had to have a knocker with this sort of door, I'd mount it on a post adjacent to the door. If it were my door I'd forget the knocker or change the door. Good luck on your project!

Those are great ideas. Since you are a blended household, maybe you can all come up with a name for your home. Have a sit down dinner for everyone that lives there and brainstorm on a name...it will be fun!!! I name the rooms in my house related to how I decorate them. ~La La Laundry Room (laundry room...duh) ~Newcastle Equestrian Club (powder room) ~VampTiki Lounge (the Tiki lounge) ~Flamingo Cafe (kitchen) ~Willow House Executive Suite (my office) ~Out Of Africa Master Bath (MBathR) ~Nefertiti's Chamber (MBR) ~Jumping Dog Brew & Cue (garage/billiard room) I will eventually have plaques made with the names of each room to put on the wall to the right just as you enter it. I have a few more rooms to name. I want to name my home "Palmyra" out of a James Bond movie. See...your idea of engraving your new knocker is not so crazy...LOL. I look forward to seeing what you come up with

I'm the odd one out: I wouldn't. No one will be knocking at that door for entry into the garage, and you don't want to confuse guests about where they should knock. If you wouldn't put a doorbell there, you shouldn't put a knocker.

On another note, I worked at a gift shop in a past life and we advised people to only buy a knocker for the front door. Not that you should take home design advice from a chain gift store, but if we didn't even try to sell more by getting people to out them on every door, that tells you something lol

I agree with Lindsey as well. If it's not a door for company to use, don't put a knocker on it.
