I'm hoping there will be some people out there who can help me out. We are building a new house. Our front door is a mahogany door with a 3/4 lite. No true side lights, but windows on either side of the door. The picture is of a different door, but similar style in terms of window size and placement. Here's my question. I'd like to have a functional door knocker, but not if it looks weird. Where would you mount a knocker on a door like this? Research I've done recommends only mounting it on the door proper if it is to be functional (and again, I do want it to be functional). So that rules out putting it on the trim or just to the side of the door. Could I mount it around head/shoulder level in line with the door handle/deadbolt? Any opinions would be great. If anyone has done this at their house I would LOVE to see some pictures. THANK YOU!
