Comments (36)Hi All, First of all (((((((Wodka)))))))). I am so sorry about your news. It is such a horrible disease and I can sympathize with you as my brother has been battling it off and on for the past 15 years. It really s*cks. Please feel free to vent, cry, laugh, whatever you need to do. There are lots of arms and ears here! BJ, I can't believe you finally moved! Your house is beautiful, good luck with the sale. I honestly can't remember if I already said that to you. Dee, I am glad your cruise was a success. I am sorry that nobody wanted to come to Salem. It really is a nice place (dispite all the tourists!!! LOL) Marci, I am so envious of your summer off. This is the first time in 8 years that I have had to work during the summer...and even before that, I only worked part time, basically when I wanted to. However, I am grateful to have a job! Raeanne, been out on the boat much?? The weather here has been perfect boating weather and we are taking in as much as we can! Patti, I loved your answer in the questions about looking up to Dave. I just thought that was so sweet. :-) McPeg, how are you doing? Congratulations on the weight loss. You are doing so well and sounds like you are really keeping busy. Good for you! Suzanne, how are you? You must be enjoying this weather with your animals. My sister just got two miniature ponies to pull a cart for her grandchildren. Now she thinks one of them may be pregnant. I'll keep you posted. I just can't imagine what it will look like when it is born. Teeney tiny! Milkdud, I think one of my favorite things is a pedicure. There is nothing like it! Hi Donna! Enjoying your summer? I am also worried about Maddie. I wish that she would check in with someone. I have thought about her often. Things have been a little bit of a whirlwind with me lately. DS and DIL have decided to move back to MA!!! I have been doing the happy dance for a couple of weeks now. I really can't believe it. They probably won't be back until next year some time as they have to sell their house in VA first. That is ok, I can be very patient when I have to be!! I found out today that my manager is leaving the end of next week. I am so so sad. She is the person that hired me and we have really connected over the past 6 months. I really admire her and have loved working with her. :-( I have made up my mind to go back to WW (AGAIN!) and do CORE. I went food shopping tonight to buy all my supplies. My feet and ankles have been killing me lately, I know some of it is from living in flip flops, but alot of it is my weight. Speaking of which, has anyone every suffered from Plantar Facitis (sp??). Comments (29)If your toes are curling, do you think that is PF or a cramp? I have all hammertoes except for my big toe. It isn't a problem if they are all hammertoes like it is if only one is a hammertoe. I have a problem with my feet cramping. Fortunately I teach school, and am required to walk. If I were required to sit at a desk, it would be a greater problem, but I can walk out the cramps, and I can wear comfortable shoes. Stretching on the step made all the difference with me, but I had no injury, just the PF. My bone density is not good, and I am taking Fosamax to improve it. I do think that doctors like to fix something immediately rather than give you a long term change that will fix it. I have never heard of someone getting more than a slight instant brief relief from the shots, so I have tried to avoid the early morning injury, and exercise. However if my doctor gave me a good reason, and really wanted me to have a shot, I would take it. But I do know that those shots contribute to lower bone density, and that is a harder fix than the Plantar Fasciitis. (It is early in the morning, and I never have been happy with the way I spell that. I do firmly believe in doctors, and would do almost anything they said. Mine have just suggested the shot, so I chose to exercise. I think anyone with other things going on rather than the PF are in a different category, and shouldn't try what I try. By the way, I almost forgot. If I sleep on my stomach, I usually allow my feet to dangle off the end of the bed. Sammy...See Moresuch pain in ball of feet
Comments (15)Hi mzmint, I'm glad you wrote again, since I have some questions. I've had so many foot problems in my life. Recently, a new one started up. I had intense stinging in my toes. I couldn't even walk. I have a wonderful podiatrist, who has always cured my problems, but he moved too far away. I foung an ortho doc who specializes in foot and ankle problems. He said I didn't have a neuroma, and sent me to PT for a generic inlay with a little pad under my metatarsal area. That helps a little. Then, a few weeks later, I developed horrible pain and stiffness in my metatarsal area. I limped badly. I went back to him and he took more xrays, offered neurontic, and that was it. I talked him into custom orthotics, since I thought the generic ones weren't working well. I got the $275 custom orthotics, and 4-5 days after starting to wear them, my knees hurt so bad I am actually using a cane part of the time! (I had knee surgery in July). So I've spent close to $1,000 at this doc's, and I'm worse than when I started! My question for you is: Did you doc actually feel a neuroma, or did he just go on symptoms? You mentioned some spenco pads you are wearing. Could you please explain to me where you put them on your feet? I truly feel this doctor, even though he's highly respected, is just not doing much for my feet. He wanted to give me the drug Neurontin. It ticked me off, since he hadn't really dealt with inlays well enough first. Anyhow....please let me know how you use your pads. Thanks!...See MoreLet's talk shoes...
Comments (78)Stop the press! Store #57, I found shoes. This may be of interest to narrow-er foot people. As mentioned above I needed a shoe to wear with skinny-ish ankle pants and shorts that I could also use for minor terrain in Scotland. So, I needed some tread. I had a heck of a time as most shoes had big ugly bulbous toe beds. For A brief time I looked at slip-ons but decided against that because when I got the length that fit they where too wide and slippy and I could see some blisters in my future. I mostly ruled out tennis or workout shoes because I’m just not the sort to wear them around town, plus they clashed with my outfits as most were so colorful. So, I bought these Coach Moonlight sneaker shoes in a nice cream color called /chaulk with that little bit of somthin somthin on the back. Not quite a workout shoe and a bit more fashionable. The toes are just right (not too pointy or too round) and have a little more of a feminine look. Comfort wise on a scale from one to five they are a four. They are a four for now until I break in the leather. Not that the leather is stiff, its not, it's a nice Napa leather. Glad the shoe thing is OVER for me! EDITED to add: I forgot to mention that I tried on a few Coach shoes and they all seemed to run a tic narrow. Not very narrow but a nice fit if you have a slim to norm foot....See Moredeegw
