A couple of months ago I was going into J C Penney. I little girl, maybe eight, ran past me just to open the door for me. I was floored. And it made my day!

Well my story is somewhat similar, although the mother never said "Thank You". I was at Walt Mart after shopping and had a flat tire, perfect place right... so I had to patiently wait while they are changing my tire, long, long wait! While sitting in the room there was a family with a young child maybe three years of age, she was doing well until she didn't get her way and started having a fit, laying on the floor, kicking and screaming her head off. When the mother picked her up she continued the screaming for a long,long time. Finally I stood up and put my hands up to her to come with me, viola the screams stopped.

Happy to resolve the issue and everyone was happy. Making the day of others is what we all should remember. Manners count!

Thank you all for making my day by sharing your stories of modern children with manners and parents actually parenting. Maybe we'll be okay after all :-)

This morning we got on a plane at 5:30 am and everyone including the flight attendant was groggy. My son noticed a very short teenager that was having trouble getting his carry on into the over head compartment and offered to help as he is tall. He was struggling to get it in when the flight attendant came over and said,"this isn't correctly in the bin." My son started to try and move it when she somehow realized it wasn't his luggage and said, " why are you moving someone else's luggage, you are not supposed to do that". My son didn't respond as he didn't want to embarrass the short guy. The flight attendant realized what was going on and said, " you are a good boy son". The flight attendant looked a little embarrassed as she realized my son was trying to help and not humiliate the very short guy.

I use a cane and am constantly impressed with young people who open a door for me, or grab a shopping cart, etc. There are lots of good kids out there!

I was walking into the laundromat a few days ago, to dry some clothes, and a little girl about five years old, rushed to open the door for me. Such a little thing, but such a sweet gesture. I said, "thank you very much for helping me. I really appreciate it." She just looked so sweet and smiled so big when I thanked her.

It was a good many years ago, but I still remember the two raggle-taggle looking little boys who rushed to open the door for me as I pushed my husband's wheel chair. You can't always judge by appearances!!!

We are in a large hospital room. At the far end opposite the medical service area is my three-year-old granddaughter, in bed with a huge bandage on her face awaiting surgery for a dog attack. In walks a tall large nurse who, with merely a glance the patient's way as she strides forward, says "Good Morning. How are you?" as nurses always do. From the three-year-old came a pleasant reply: "I'm fine, thank you. How are you?" For a split second the entire body of the nurse visibly wavered as the impact of unusually good manners from such a little one hit her. I'll wager neither the nurse nor I will ever forget.
