Strange yellow stuff on mulch

I'm very curious to know what this yellowish stuff is. It appeared on mulch under blackberry and raspberry plants.
Initially, I thought they were eggs, I mixed it with a stick. It had a cream consistency. An hour later, I saw that it returned back to the same texture (as you see on the pictures) as though I hadn't touched it. Really cool, but strange stuff. The one under blackberry plants, which appear before the other one, has now turned into a powder form.

Comments (17)today....It had moved all but out of the box and resembled berry cobbler!!!! it had reddish ooey gooey looking stuff (just like if you cut holes in the top of a pie crust and the inside oozed up and out). Comments (4)I don't know how big his collection may be. I don't know what conditions he/she grows their plants. I've seen mold spread fast. Both times they were ISI plants. This is common this time of year, damp, cool, no air, sets the conditions up for this problem. These plants are not expensive, and obtainable at Squw Mt. Nursery, and I made my suggestion on that basis. Nothing is written in stone. Thanks Karen, by the way I did look it up trying to figure out what it is. It is not listed in my Western Garden Book. Guess work would not work, you need to know the exact name of that problem, or you can't cure it. Molds can also make people sick, and if the spores spread into the walls, he could have big problems. Comments (6)Yes - many of us have seen this stuff and we call it, as mentioned above, "dog vomit" fungus or mold. It's not really a fungus but a slime mold. Calling it the "Dog Vomit Slime Mold" isn't very appealing so its scientific name is Fuligo septica. In other words, "sticky stuff". Dog Vomit Fungus usually appears in late spring or summer following soaking rains. The slime mold is usually found growing in mulched areas near homes and office buildings, but can appear in the woods, too. The color is bright yellow or sickly orange. The colorful growth occurs when the mold is beginning its fruiting stage. It can appear overnight causing people to question what it is and how it got there.
