Fungal infection tillandsia
Comments (6)Thanks for the compliment but rest assurred...I'm no celebrity! You're correct in that the dishwashing soap may clog the stomata of the tillandsias. Simple de-natured rubbing alcohol works well too. Many times clumps can fall apart due to a fungal infection or rot. Salvaging the healthier plants it's not a bad idea to dip the base of the plant in a powdered rooting hormone. These usually contain a fungicide to ward of nasties. You're not actually treating the plants to get root growth but rather to fight the infection....See MoreBlue Spruce Turning Yellow - fungal infection?
Comments (13)i always presume the Ag dept insists on clean stock being in the trade.. so i rule out disease rather quickly ... you said you planted it ... potted or ball and burlap?? ... if BB...possible severe digging stresses ... at growers location how did you get it hole ... possible severe transportation stresses .. not to mention from field to store ... was it at the store all summer... or late deliver ... possible improper care stresses ... how did you move it from store to hole in ground.. further transport stresses ... how did you plant it ... amend soil .. etc .. what is your soil ... etc.. planting stresses ... how was winter ... further possible stresses ... and.. your watering protocol ... which is what the above are wondering about.. more stress .. which leads me to the conclusion... wait for it.. your plant is stressed .. lol .. differentiating what was the cause.. is near impossible ... what i would like to see... is a pic or two of some buds ... if they are not plumping.. and its showing no signs of life.. it might be a goner ...here in my z5 MI .. buds are extending about an inch .. and its been a rather cold long spring [with just a few warm days].... if there is a next time... the smaller the plant.. the less the stress.. in every aspect ... so go smaller.. try to avoid that instant gratification urge ... ken...See MoreFungal infection or something else?
Comments (3)Hope that pot has a hole in it. Watering a bit every week doesn't do your plant any service. Water thoroughly 'til water comes out the bottom maybe once every 2 wks. Succulent soil on its own often needs lots more amending to be fast draining, like addition of equal part perlite. It'd help if you'd show us the soil under the rocks. The type of watering you're doing may help rot the plant, given unamended soil too....See MoreFiddle leaf fig Root Rot? Or Fungal Infection?
