Please help me choose an island for my kitchen...choices inside.
Comments (65)Thundersweet, The oringinal pictures of the islands shows the "farmhouse island" in red with a dark butcher block top! And there is also a cool little red stool behind it. Anyway, if you have red throughout your house plus red appliances it seems you like a little bling here and there. You would want a real dark red, maybe with a black glaze or wash over it so it doesn't overpower the space. It could just add that right amount of "spice". However, your style is clean and simple, Amish like, very nice and comforting, so I can see the Pasons island fitting in very well with your style. Now you gotta ask yourself, do you want to keep the kitchen style as is or do you wanna add some bling? But here's the thing, it's a painted finish so either way you go it can always be painted another color!...See MoreNeed help matching kitchen colour choices
Comments (5)rebunky I just now saw your pics. I love the picture that you had saved for awhile. My island cabinets are very similar to the blue in that picture :) It's been scrunch time and I've spent the last two days going nuts trying to figure out my counters! I think I've come to a decision for the island counter top. I've decided like the look of ceaserstone more than granite and love the Bianco Drift. I think it will be a really good match for the blue island. I need to go and get a physical sample though to make sure the two do really go well together. Here it is: As for the perimeter... I don't know yet. Maybe I'll stick to the same....See MorePainting Oak Kitchen Cabinets -- Need Help With Color
Comments (48)lukkiirish -- funny, the winds breath IS one of my fave colors. (and to anyone who is looking for a magic white/grey paint, I swear, it really is just the most wondrous color!). I also have it on my bedroom ceiling with camouflage on the walls and a white crown molding. I did look at it as a potential color for the cabinets but decided against it when DD and DH said they think white/off white/cream cabinets are "boring" and "trendy". Winds Breath did seem too look good with my counters....i just asked dh to go paint a board and i am gonna check it out. the raffia cream i really like. i think i like it on the wall better than the cabinets, i don't think i like it next to stainless as much as maybe something else. eandhl2 i have considered some pale yellows. One color I looked at was sugar cookie (benjamin moore) but i never did pursue it. When i abandoned the white/cream idea, i abandoned pale yellow. i am not sure what my reasoning was. tinam61 i have talked to some people about the cabinets. They were painters first and designers second (or maybe third or fourth). They really didn't care if i painted them purple or ochre or white. They were interested in the painting, not in the aesthetic. Not sure I would have trusted their aesthetic anyway...even if they were so inclined to discuss it. My3dogs (Maine zone 5A) i do like the pic you posted. I think the grey in the pic is cooler than i want, but i would like to see berkshire beige on the cabinets. i am going to look and see if i can find a picture....See MorePainting my kitchen cabinets white - Need help with BM paint color.
Comments (11)Your cabinets are lovely, must you paint them? If you must, I agree with choosing something else first, such as the granite. If you're doing your backsplash too, perhaps go tile shopping. If you fall in love with something, it will help narrow down your paint choices. Easier to do it that way as paint choices are much larger than granite/ tile choices....See Moreaprilneverends
