Yep.......crabapple. Yes, they're edible but you probably won't be eating them like an apple. They tend to be tart but are good candied and preserved, and often used for jellies. Yours may/may not become large enough to do this........the breeders have concentrated on shrinking the fruits into nothingness so they won't become messy upon fruit drop, but some ornamental crabapples do have showy fruit and are planted for them. The tree what bore the fruit in the picture was a wild one on my property, but they are a fav tree of mine and I suspect I have planted six or seven of them.

So much for your help. I will have to find the plant here in Oregon, so I can plant it in my backyard!

Will not be able to go on for years in same pot and potting soil, without being potted on and having the potting medium replenished. Also in your zone there may be a possibility of it freezing some winter, because it is in a pot.
