Marvin Integrity would be the better match for a new construction application as it it more suited for that. They do equip the Infinity with a nailing flange, but it is most relegated to their retrofit clientele. I would look at the Integrity if it were me.

Very familiar with both and my advice above would be based on that.

Thanks for the quick response WoW. The windows would have the nailing flange. I looked at the Integrity but I really don't care about a wood interior as I would just paint it white. Also with the Infinity casement it has a hinge where I can clean the outside of the window from the inside. This is important because the windows are above window wells. I don't believe that is an option in the integrity. Please correct me if I am wrong on that. Are there other reasons the Integrity is a better window?

On the casement level, the Infinity isn't any less of a window so if it has the options and look you want, stay with it. On the other operators (i.e. DH), the Integrity doesn't suffer the same performance Achilles heels that the Infinity does.

corten, what are your priorities in choosing a window? I do like the Integrity option that WoW mentioned above, however I'd qualify that recommendation by saying that is IF you value a wood interior over high performance. Most wood and fiberglass windows (with the exception of some Canadian brands) are a bit lacking in performance, particularly air leakage. If the appearance of vinyl is acceptable to you, a premium vinyl product will likely offer the best thermal and structural performance that you can find, and do so at a lower price point comparatively.

Below is an actual testimonial from a client of ours, I've only obscured the brand of the window that she chose so that this does not read like a commercial:

"In replacing my windows, I first tried Marvin Infinity fiberglass double hung windows in one room. I hated them from the first night because the air infiltration was very high, the top pane would drop slightly letting more cold air in, and the fiberglass conducted the outside cold. I replaced the Marvins within a few months with the ****single hung windows, mainly because of the low air infiltration ratings, and because it was the only high quality single hung in the area with the .01% air infiltration rating. After living with the **** over the winter, I was pleased enough that I replaced the rest of the windows with **** single hung. I have been very pleased. Customer Service after installation also has been very good"

Again, the Integrity and to some extent Infinity are good windows, just make sure that they fit your goals for the project, which to some degree is form over function... Just some food for thought.

As I have looked at windows I feel like because of where I live (Utah), I can't have it all! I hate the vinyl windows I have now, but I know they are a builders grade vinyl window (amsco). I was seriously considering Milgard Tuscany and had gotten bids for it. But my brother put them in his very expensive home (he lives 100 miles north of me) and has had nothing but trouble with them and regrets his decision.

We don't have the higher end vinyl here that I read about on these forums (Sunrise, Okna etc..). If you could tell me a premium vinyl that is sold in Utah, I would definitely go after it.

The wood windows are great but I don't care about the wood interior, I want a white interior. I would like better numbers but I also want a quality window and I don't feel that any of the vinyl here can give me a quality, attractive window. It leaves me a little frustrated!

I know the numbers on the Infinity are not the highest but I believe it is a well built window. If anyone can suggest to me other windows that are well built, attractive and have good numbers I would love to look at them. I am doing Casements but have to put 3 sliders in the bedrooms because of their size and egress.
