Any recent Ethan Allen Dining furniture experiences?

I ordered a banquette and dining chairs ( mid grade leather with a black finish for the frame ) . I noticed that the receipt had the delivery date as several weeks after the date discussed. I called the store and they said the date was just printed by the computer and it would be the date they gave me, the difference would be 3 months vs 2 months.

After reading so many negative reviews I am considering canceling the order. I am really concerned the finish on the chairs will not hold up and I also do now want to wait possibly 12 weeks for chairs. I have 2 more days to decide and I am curious if anyone has any recent experience with their dining furniture.

Our entire home, when I was growing up, was decorated with Ethan Allen furniture. Back then it held up wonderfully with our big family of nine kids. I haven't heard of an quality issues lately, but then again, I haven't shopped for much furniture in years. I'll be anxious to hear what others have to say.

I have an Ethan Allen sofa, bookcases and coffee table bought maybe 3 years ago. Happy with all. Inside of the coffee table drawers says "Made in USA." I believe some parts of the sofa were made in USA and some were not. I could check the label if you really want to know. I also bought some American-made furniture recently from Stickley (made in NY) and Lee Industries (made in North Carolina). The Room and Board catalog tells you where their sofas are made in the US.

I don't have that sofa, but I have one that's similar from Calico Corners that I've been happy with. When I was shopping for furniture, I felt that Calico Corners offered good quality (American made, eight way hand tied, etc.) for the price.

I am happy to share my experience with Ethan Allen Sleeper sofas hoping it will help others. We bought a Paramount Sleeper Sofa in 2013. In 2017 we noticed that the front pad that supports the cushions was bulging out (see photo). We contacted Ethan Allen and they said that because the problem was not in the frame, it was out of warranty. I looked at other pieces of furniture in our home and I noticed that the EA sofa, unlike other items, had a very “squishable” pad to support the cushions. We told EA that the sofa is seldom used (at most 20 times per year) and that my husband an I are not heavy and felt that there must be a problem with the design or construction. The final decision came in an email, from which I copy directly: “In conjunction with our warranty department, Jenn and I have carefully reviewed each of your questions and concluded that the sofa is up to our manufacturing standards.” We were told that our only option was to buy a replacement pad and pay a technician to replace it. When the pad arrived it was tightly rolled in a box (see photo). How is this soft pad supposed to support the weight of someone sitting on it? As I wrote EA, the sleeper and frame are “great”, unless one sits on the sofa. Not a good thing... for a sofa. And certainly not good “manufacturing standards” for Ethan Allen.

I've bought quite a bit of EA New Impressions in the last 3 to 6 years and it says made in America. I've bought a few sofas and chairs over the years too and have been happy with them. The fabric and cushion inserts you choose can definitely make a difference in how it feels. Some of their furniture lines don't look as good to me as some of their other lines. I've looked at a lot of furniture out there and it is dominated by poorly made furniture. Ethan Allen seems better in that regard. I've also had Thomasville and find it about the same as EA. Our first bedroom set was EA and I still like it (40 years old). After 40 years, we are going to a king bed and I've found an excellent made in America furniture line called Copeland. It is more expensive than the EA (not too much), but the craftsmanship and the beauty of the wood really shows and I liked the styles.

I can only speak about the upholstered furniture. I have a sofa and two club chairs for over 20 years and they feel like brand new. The sofa is faded because it sits near a large window, but the comfort is still the same.

Fast forward. Sofa shopping with my oldest DD. She picked a sofa and then chose the middle priced cushions. You get three choices. Her sofa is not as comfortable as mine and I really think they actually gave her the lowest grade cushion. She didn't care, so I didn't make a thing about it. I think the quality is not like it used to be.

That said, I think you will be fine with a dining table, but you need to be careful of the comfort of the chairs.

I have an Ethan Allen dining table with 10 chairs, a buffet, sofa and oversized chair. Have had for about 10 years. I would not recommend EA furniture. The dining chairs have fared the worst even though we only use them for special occasions. The cording has come off several chairs and the seat cushion on one is completely gone. The buffet (which they still sell) has chipped paint in many places and the closing mechanism doesn't work so one door is slightly more open than the other. Re the sofa and chair, the down filling is not full enough to keep the cushions looking "puffed". It always looks messy. Super disappointed across the board. I assumed the dining room set would last a lifetime and be handed down. Not the case.
