New Trane System Questions
Comments (7)cowboy first of all, from your post it sounds that Comfort r was never set up correctly. Honeywell makes Trane stats including the XL900 which is a proprietary mdl for Trane. Both stats have DOD feature-"dehumidify on demand". Either of these stats XL900 and HW VP IAQ will work. You will get full functionality of your XC95m modulating furnace with the XL900 in 1% increments between 40%-100% output. With the HW VP IAQ, only in 3% increments. I don't really think that's a big deal and would weigh the cost difference between the two stats. However, if money/budget is not an issue, then go with the XL900. I have to say your installing dealer did you no favor by failing to install one or the other. He deserves a tongue lashing at the very least. IMO...See MoreTrane XL15i, XV80 & XV95 or another brand?
Comments (14)enrico. I used Home Reports, Home Services Review, Kudzu.com, BBB, to read about companies and their customer feedback. Nate certified & Trane certified installers, contractor warranties, company responsivesness to questions, evaluated the knowledge level of everyone I dealt with. Once we decided on the type of equipment we wanted, I asked each contractor to quote me on that equipment, specifically listing all model numbers. Things can get lost in the translation if equipment descriptions are vague. Looked at their prevent. maint. contracts. Specified that I want the best of their best in terms of installation teams, even if I had to wait a few extra days. How long have they been in business? In terms of pricing, we're near the higher end of your range, which for us, besides the furnace and AC, includes a 5" media filter cabinet and upgraded t-stat. In addition, the XV95 is a little pricier than the XV80. Also, I got connected with the co.'s Operation Mgr. for more technical questions that the sales guy wasn't sure about. I like that he's responsive. Our install hasn't been done yet, so I can't give a final report. I'm hoping some of this extra digging will pay off in terms of satisfaction. Good luck....See MoreA/C Trane Question
Comments (0)I have a Trane XL14I (4) ton unit install in June of 2005 when I built my new home. I live in NE PA where we use the AC for maybe 2 months. Last year (June 2008) the startup capacitor fried.. Last night the unit died again. My HVAC guy came up and said the capacitor went bad (it did not fry this time). This to me seems very unusual. He started down the road of low voltage ect and I informed him I had a transformer installed 60 ft from my home for this very reason as IÂm 700ft from the road. IÂm not having any other problems with any appliance, light bulbs or heavy duty woodworking equipment I have (5 HP 20" planer, 3HP shaper). I also notice from day 1 when my AC starts up I get some light dimming. My last house had a 3 ½ ton York and I never had that problem. Is this an AC issue? I had our power company check my line twice and I have no problem. I pulled the breaker and checked all the connections. I was looking at upgrading this to a heat pump to help offset the price of oil but Trane is not impressing me here. My HVAC was suggesting a XL 20 I as a replacement. Plus I canÂt find a number to call Trane so they send you to either a dealer or ask for you to leave them an e-mail. Thanks for any suggestions....See MoreTrane XR15 air handler question.
Comments (5)The Tem6 with the var speed blower would be a better choice. Is this an issue of the physical size of the air handler? What size XR15 are you considering ? IMO...See MoreUser
