Obsessing over Obsession
Comments (17)Ok guys. . I just came in from obsessing again.. lol I wanted fresh facts, not something I wrote last year. Today Obsession measured 43 inches across and a tad over 17 inches. Her bloom is just starting to open and it reaches 18 inches. I have to say that mine has pretty darn good substance to her. I checked my database and I got her in 2004 from Direct Source hosta. Most of us want the most bang for our bucks and we don't have a money tree in our back yard. We agonize over our choices and wish we did have a money tree when those coveted catalogs start coming in the winter. . lol I guess I said all that to say this. . If Obsession died I would replace her in a heartbeat. I honestly think she is one of the loveliest hostas I have. I started to obsess over her about three years ago. I love shiny and dark hostas. . but she is more than that. There is a quality that does not seem to be captured by the camera. She looks like her leaves are satin and yet when I touch her she has strength in her leaf that surprises me. She has these lovely understated yellow lines going through her that brings out the dark shine of her leaf even more. I haven't given her any babying, and she doesn't have the most ideal spot in my garden. Those of you that are going to get her, please let me know how she performs for you. I really hope she performs in other gardens because I think she's special. AND. . if anyone but a hostaholic read this post they would think I'm crazy. . . lol Mary52 Your baby is beautiful! manyhosta. . I have a Lakeside Looking Glass. I just moved it to more sun last year because it wasn't performing where it was. I'll hold my opinion till LSLG gets some advantage. . but right now I don't like it anywhere near as much as Obsession....See MoreWhat is your spouse obsessed with ?
Comments (33)Sheets: Must be very soft! He actually encourages me to buy very-high-thread-count sheets from Overstock or Tuesday Morning. Antiques: He loves vintage and antique items. Especially different and spooky ones! Furniture: Must be comfortable. And located in spots and arrangements where one can chat and converse with others. Lighting: Lamps. No Blue walls. Ever. In any shade. In any room. Trust me -- comes from childhood decor trauma. LOL! Does see-saw about the level of clutter. So do I. Can stand clutter for a short period of time -- but then the room/house/garden must be tidied. Has Learned Over Time: white paint can help many rooms and many decor problems. Also learned that decor items can be "worked into" a room -- but it may take me a little time and involve my personal and private "puttering" time. Laughs when I carry items around the house until I make them work! Actually feels "creeped out" in some folks homes -- for various reasons. I do too! Comments (74)Mine longtime kitchen obsession has been vintage cookware from the 50s or older. I have a lot of Guardian Service cookware. I love that the stuff is practically bombproof. At the thrift store the other day I found an ancient but still perfectly workable Presto 4 qt pressure cooker. The hammered texture on the lid caught my eye. It has beautiful wood handles too. I love that I can still get gaskets and overpressure plugs for it which I did because while the ones it had were serviceable they looked a little old. I also found a manual for it. Using some common sense and some internet research, it's incredibly easy to use. Since then I have experimented with making a few dishes in it. French onion soup is awesome in it and beans come out creamy textured. Presoaking gets better results though if in a hurry I can start from dry. Seasonings get right into the beans instead of staying in the broth. I am looking for a big oldie so i can use it at the next chili cook-off!...See MoreID bush in Wawa parking lot
Comments (15)Wawa information. Our Logo: "Wawa" is a Native American word for the Canada Goose that was found in the Delaware Valley over 100 years ago. Our original Dairy farm was built on land located in a rural section of Pennsylvania called Wawa. That's why we use the goose on Wawa's corporate logo. https://www.wawa.com/about It's a hugely successful business with convenience stores and super stations that have gasoline pumps. As you can see the goose is the logo on their signs ....See More- 7 years ago
