Help Identifying Type of Grass (Pic attached)
Comments (13)If you do nothing but water (deeply and infrequently) and mow (mulch mow at least 3 inches) until Memorial Day and post pictures, I'm nearly certain you'll have our praise. The previous owners obviously took great care of the lawn. They must have hung out in the forums ;-) I would not apply lime unless/until I knew how much to apply. Have you had the soil tested? Spring is definitely not the time to overseed. You would have to scalp the lawn down to nothing and that would clear the path for a very weedy summer. I'm with auteck, why seed at all? Can you reel mower go to 3 inches high? Most homeowner reel mowers work best on very low lawns, but I've seen industrial gang mowers work at 2 inches on fairways. The reason to mow high is to keep the sunlight off of the soil. Weeds will fill in if there is any bare soil, but your grass looks very dense....See MoreHelp identify this brug problem (Pics attached)
Comments (2)The holes look like slug/snail/caterpillar damage but the discoloration looks like a deficiency of some sort to me. I'd give it something with trace minerals. ES or ironite sound good and I would try one or the other. I'm not sure if both can be used together or if that would be overkill. If the problem persists I'd try something that also contains calcium. I use a product called CalMag Plus which works quite well....See MoreDisease ID Help Please - Pics Attached
Comments (5)I'm in the same boat, but with peppers. I had one that developed brown streaks on the stem, then the lower branches wilted, and there were brown patches on the leaves of those branches, and then it showed up on the pods. The plant was loaded too! It only took a couple of days. I ripped the plant out, and am hoping it doesn't spread to any of the other plants. After doing some research, my best guess is fusarium wilt, which I found can live in the soil for several years, and effects anything in the nightshade family, plus basil and things in the mint family. Looks like I'll be doing some crop rotation next year. I wish I knew enough to identify your problem, but maybe Steve, or Jay, or David will see your post and comment. They've been growing tomatoes longer than the rest of us and may have run across something similar before. Best wishes on the rest of your season! Comments (74)You are correct. The number 5 in each hue family marks the point where the highest concentration of the respective hue parent is perceived. That's why all the 5s are marked with a big dot. Every color - all the colors we like to call neutral, white, grays, blacks - is defined by how much of the hue parent can be perceived. So, as you move counter clockwise from 5 Y towards the yellow-red hue family, the amount of perceivable yellowness lessens and yellow-red (orangeness) increases. You can see the gradation of hue unit lines on the color wheel. So the hue family notation tells you the proportion of hue parent that is discernible in a color AND also the proportion of overtone or hue bias from the neighboring hue family. Important to note - the notations are based on a D65 Illuminant which mimics a relatively balanced quality of light. The quality of light in your space may vary....See Morekellyccurry
