Crushed stone path -- do you rinse the stone first?
Comments (2)lazygardens: What drained out is mostly silt and sand -- like the thick muck you might scrape up from the bottom of a river. It looks like it would harden into an impermeable layer on the landscape fabric. Perhaps it would soften again when wet. There are some smaller pieces that we hope to sift out of the fine silt, and use that as fines. We finished about 1/2 of the path yesterday before quitting for the day due to fatigue. We'll finish next weekend....See MoreSarracenia Dormancy in a Terrarium? (using crushed ice)
Comments (3)Crushed ice does not really induce this dormancy as is the effectiveness in growing high elevation cool growing species. You just need to bring the entire root and atmospheric growing temperatures down gradually and slowly adjust their growth to adapt to this cooler to colder extremes. Shocking it with ice can also kill the plant not used to freezing temperatures from warm to frozen....See MoreHow to make crushed pepper flakes instead of powder
Comments (4)Just pulce dried pods in a food processor. Do only a few pods at a time and remove what is the right size as they get chopped up. Use a colender to sift the flakes. Anything with larger holes than a sifter will separate the flakes.Metal ones work better.Plastic ones have too much static electricity and the flakes stick to it....See MoreLooking for French Door Counter Depth Fridge with crushed ice
Comments (9)Thank you for the reply. I've found three models that might work including the ones you mentioned. The Maytag/Amana version only has cubed ice. (I know for most people this is not important but it is for me.) The Kenmore Elite Trio is not counter depth but still more shallow than the GE Profile. GE Profile DOES have a counter depth one but it seems really small. I'm looking at the Kenmore which is on sale through today. There are multiple models online. I posted about them separately. I appreciate the help. Deb...See Morefoodonastump
