Oxygen Bleach/Sodium Percarbonate Reaction to Enzymes
Comments (10)Enzymes are not stable in laundry liquid products that contain bleach (oxgyen or chlorine), powdered laundry products are fine as chemical & detergent makers have found ways to keep one from affecting the other the shelf. Long as the product is kept in a cool and dry storage location things should be fine. Liquid laundry products by and large do contain enzymes but not bleach for this reason. The only exception are the various "pod" type products where ways have been found to seal off the bleach from enzymes to keep each from affecting the other. As for oxygen bleach and water temperature in general yes the hotter the water equals better results. However that mainly pertains to sodium perborate and liquid hydrogen peroxide. Sodium percarbonate OTOH is known as the "cold water" oxygen bleach because it can and will start working in cooler water. Personally have used either sodium percarbonate containing detergents or added it as a powder (Ecover) to laundry washed at temps of either 85F or 100F and the results are same; stains are soils are removed with textiles whitened and brightened. Ecover makes two versions of oxygen bleach by the way. One comes in plastic jugs and is liquid oxygen bleach (hydrogen peroxide) the other is a power (sodium percarbonate). Compared to "OxiClean" type products the latter is a better buy because it contains pure oxygen bleach. The others are usually 10% or more of washing soda....See MoreRecommended detergents for delicates?
Comments (5)Thanks all! Delicates means for me some washable silk, some wool, and some synthetics that say "hand wash" or say "machine wash cold, delicate cycle". Our current washer is a TL, which seems rather brutal :-) so they get washed by hand, or occasionally washed in cold water in a mesh nylon wash bag. We are planning to get a Miele FL that has a delicates cycle. The Miele dealer recommends Perwoll. Thanks, CF...See MoreAriel Detergent (Mexico) What say you?
Comments (8)Just today I found Ariel at Wallmart and it's different from the pack I got at the grocery store. This pack says Ariel USA and it is a white powder with blue speckles. The pack I got at the grocery store is a light blue powder with red a dark blue speckles, it even has a warning label stating " Contains Sodium Sulfate, Sodium, Polyphosphate an Alkyl, Ariel Sodium Sulfate". The Ariel USA bag has no of that. What's the difference? How best are these detergents used, for colors or whites, or both?...See MoreHelp!!!! Need replacement for Sears Laundry Detergent
Comments (120)The one from target is he as I’ve bought it at least a dozen times online. It may not have an updated photo but def he. Just an old picture. It’s been reformulated for awhile so any retailer like Walmart or target is going to have updates product. There is a link on targets website to report an inaccurate listing. Might be worth checking so they can provide an updated box....See Morefriedajune
