I would skip email and call them directly. Their roses are not generally cheap and having ordered from them several times I know they have, for my orders anyway, done much better than what you describe. As for the metal tags, I usually remove those and place them on the rose where I prefer. Can't remember though if I ever thought the bands were too tight because I almost always reposition any ID band no matter where a rose is from.

ETA: All the roses I ordered from them (maybe a dozen over the last few years) have grown well for me.

I have had mediocre shipping . I agree with the wire tags choking out the rose

I had terrible experience with J&P roses. I bought about 6 roses from them and 3 died. There was no refund or credit because it was over the 90 days period. When I dug up the roots, none of the dead roses had grown any new feeder roots. Like some of yours, the canes also took a long time to send up new sprouts.

Please call them and have them make it right ! You spent hard earned money and time on their roses and deserve what you paid for . Sorry they have been a disappointment.

I have only ordered from them once, bought 2 Bill Warriner bareroots last year. Probably the largest, fullest root systems I have ever seen on a mail order rose. A little dry and not as well packaged as Austins, but really amazing roots, and both have done exceptionally well.

90 days? When I worked there it was a year . 90 days you can't even tell how something's going to do in 3 months you need some time. I had to get a replacement Rose last summer and they sure did not want to do that but they finally did and the rose took its sweet time to take off but finally this year is going kind of crazy.

Yes, Kristine. I should have called them earlier but I thought I would give the roses a chance before I made a call. The thing was I missed the 90 days period like a couple of days or so. I thought the warranty period began from the day you received the roses. But no. They started counting from the date of the order, not the date you received the plants.

when companies do things like that you're not likely to ever do business with them again. raise your prices lower your customer, service pretty soon people are looking elsewhere for their Rose orders. I'm really sorry that happened to you. 90 days is not even enough time to really know

Just to clarify, the plants themselves are god quality, it's the handling/shipping that is the problem. Seems like that would be the easy part.

I might be wrong about the them sending the wrong plant. It's a Tournament of Roses which looks pink-orange on their site but other pictures are more salmon pink. Mine is a very pale pink, outer petals are white but it might be because it's still immature.

The 90 days start at the time you place your order? Not when you receive your order? That sounds ridiculous! So depending on how long it takes them to get your order into your hands shortens the warranty period? I would definitely give them a call and give them a chance to make things right. Often when you speak to a live person, you can get something done. If your not sure about the ID of the rose in question, at least ask them about it. They may ask for pictures, and when you send them, save the email for documentation. This way, if they do nothing about it now, and it you determine later that it IS the wrong rose, you have proof that you suspected it was wrong from the beginning. I hope that you will be pleasantly surprised after calling them. Now, if you call J & P and they say " tough luck", that's when you never shop there again and you tell them so.
