Jackson Perkins Rose Order
Comments (1)Same here! Got my order today ahead of schedule and they look GREAT. I had 3 that were backordered but the one's I received look really good. I also got a shipment from S&W and they look really good as well. So far so good! : ) April...See MoreJackson And Perkins-To Order or not to order?
Comments (12)daun, how do you know the roses are virused? I have many J&P roses in my yard and none have shown signs of virus. Even if they are virused, I would keep them unless they aren't doing well. I do have a problem with J&P customer service. I wanted to order one of their Mother's day gifts. I saw it on Friday and it said it would arrive by Mother's day and I could get free express shipping. I tried to order all day Friday and Saturday, but there was a problem with the website and I could not complete my order. Finally I called last night to order and was told it would not get there by Mothers Day AND they charged me shipping. I was under the gun to order something for Mom, so I did it. But I sent them an email, with a screenshot of the website which is STILL showing 'arrive by Mother's day and free express shipping'. We will see what happens. I'm torn because I need a Moondance and Frankly Scarlett to replace 2 that didn't make it. I had a row of them, 3 each. But I am loathe to order anymore from them. Not because of their roses, but because of their customer service. Last year they didn't even answer my emails....See MoreWhat about Jackson & Perkins?
Comments (33)Thanks for that, Kim. I've been in a unique position for watching the development of both Weeks and J&P. I live about a half-mile from the old J&P "Research Facility" -- which is where Keith Zary, and John Walden, and others worked their magic. What an exciting place that was. I was also able, on a couple of occasions to visit Weeks old facility, out in Upland. Tom Carruth was -- and is -- a friend. What I see happening now is a flat tragedy. As far as I'm concerned J&P no longer exists. What remains of Weeks is -- not the company I knew and admired. For Weeks to deal with that outbreak of a terrible disease and try to cover it up -- and then ship that material out to other growers (to potentially contaminate THEIR stock ... that was appalling. Now, I"m an Old Rose person -- so there is nothing J&P OR Weeks have to offer now that I would be interested in buying. As for Weeks, it breaks my heart to say this, but . . . At this point in time, with the water that's floated under the bridge, I wouldn't buy ANY roses from either Weeks or J&P. (ir any of the other companies to which Weeks sent budwood). And if I wanted them that bloody much, well . . . I would have to have a safe containment area where I could grow those roses in self-applied quarantine for four years. Maybe 5....See MoreJackson and Perkins
Comments (41)jc, it is the tumor like dark colored growth close to the graft/root area. The first picture, middle rose bush on the right is a dark roundish protrusion. Pictures 2, 3, and 4 are close-ups of the actual crown gall. Some terms I used to describe it are that it looks like cauliflower or brain. Does this help?...See MoreKarenPA_6b
