Works for Me is an impressive clump, and it's my favorite of yours today. Ethel Buccola looks like it's formed a good clump and has a perfect quartet of blooms. The two reds are attractive, and I love the photo of Jedi Tequila Sunrise with the cannas and blue flowers. Are those delphinium?

Beautiful pictures, Mantis. We had the first Free Wheelin bloom today too, but our was deformed. Yours is, indeed, perfection. Bill Norris and Works for Me are good performers in our garden. I am glad for you that Deep Dark Secret is starting to have good scapes. That sure is a lovely one.

"Early garden" is just early-blooming cultivars. I tend a hospital garden and have provided some plants there.

Mantis - I wonder where Delphinium do well. They don't survive here either. I like your larkspur. I notice a neighbor down the street plants it every year. While it looks fabulous in May, it peters out quickly in June. Will yours keep blooming for awhile?

Deep Dark Secret has such lovely jewel tone colors, I'm glad it's doing better for you now.

I think I'll keep my bucks since laundry smells seem to keep them away from my plants. So sorry the fawns managed to squeeze under your netting.

Works for Me does actually work for me-it looks great! I have thought about that one but I have so many with similar coloration I always pass. However, yours looks really spectacular. Ethel Buccola also looks good. Looks like scapes are height average and really nice budding on many. Are you experiencing humidity with your heat as well? That is always the toughest part of southern heat-breathing hot air and humidity.

Very humid here, but no rain to speak of. A few cultivars have shorter scapes than normal; e.g., Pumpkin Prince. However, scape height in general here is good.

Works for Me performs much better than similar ones, such as Jane Trimmer, in this area.

I will have to try the Gain sometime, but I am skeptical that it works as well as the commercial repellents. In some gardens, occasional spraying keeps deer away. Not here.

Delphiniums do well in a coastal climate such as the British Isles. But even there, they are not long lived. Larkspur self-sews. It blooms for several weeks, but yes, after that it just needs to be pulled (leaving a little for seed). Some years it is better than others.
