I need help reupholstering cushions/ pillows for a banquette, please.

There is already a cushion there which could be used as a pattern. (It's in an L-shape.) However, it needs to be an inch thicker and to have a zipper, and some back pillows. I have found some great online fabric in a print, but not sure whether to use print for bottom cushion or for pillows. i'd like to get this done by July 7th if at all possible. Could someone please help??

I'm sorry, I don't really understand your question. When choosing your fabric, be aware of the need for durability; loosely woven fabric tends to wear badly as an upholstery fabric. As to whether you use the print for the pillows and bottom cushion it's really a matter of your personal taste and the pattern.

I, personally, would put print on the seat as that is most likely the site for soil to occur. It would be more noticeable on the solid colors and back cushions usually don't need cleaning as often as the seat. Sounds like a pretty 'combo'.

I love your idea and I love your brick walls. 1. I don't know, but id hate to see any sheen to them. Id try to leave it as is if you can. Maybe a piece of glass over the table top. 2.Love the colors. 3. Long ways only IMHO. Good luck!

We really struggled to design our banquette. In the end, we used poster board to mock up the shape /size (ours is angled which made it quiet tricky). I didn't do a slanted back, but if you are having it professionally upholstered, they can shape it with foam. In my area, professionally upholstering is very expensive, so we just DIYed the seat for the time being. I tried to use throw Pillows, but they always ended upon the floor. Now I'm thinking of velcroing them in place. Plywood top is the way to go. An overhang is common. Mine probably has a 3" overhang. I wouldn't go more than 5" personally because you may create a weak point that could break (if someone stands on bench).

It looks like a brand-new sofa! And my compliments to the upholsterer on lining up the pattern, which, as Olychick pointed out, ain't easy. I followed the links to see what those products were, and they don't look nearly as tacky as I was picturing, though they would after I was done using them on all the places that need it in my house. :) (Being a life-long dog owner whose now the smitten owner of two awesome cats, I've a lot to learn about cat "stuff.") And btw, I'm sorry about the cat in your picture who's no longer with you. :( After all is said and done, we can replace the things our pet destroys, but there's no replacing the pet. It boggles my mind that not everyone thinks that way, but it is what it is.

I, too, think I might remove one of the end sections and perhaps add a small storage cabinet, then do something like acm shows above. Or, if you have room for chairs facing the window, I'd get a table to fill the space as it is and simply not use the spaces that are difficult to use for seating (except maybe for parties). The kids on one end, the adults in the chairs perhaps? You also could look into a custom table made so part of it swivels out to let folks into the back seats. arhaus has a nice selection of refractory tables, which extend by the leaves sliding out from the ends. Not sure if that might be a solution or not. A little cumbersome maybe, but it could work:

I am not sure, either, just what it is that you are asking.

I would advise that you use your print for your main focus, the cushion, and accessorize with your pillows.

Is that what you are asking?

I don't understand what "help" it is that you are looking for.

Go to Sailrite.com for great videos on sewing all kinds of things, and in depth how to sew videos. They are absolutely great. They have lots of videos with great voice-over explanation. Also have supplies and fabrics. They show how to recover cushions, make new cushions, install zippers in cushions, etc. I finally learned how to sew boxed cushion corners watching their videos and I've been sewing since forever.......

there are tons of videos and tutorials on making a box cushion. just google that.
