Comments (12)Susan - The Chapel Hill lantana is supposed to be hardy here, but I have not yet overwintered it. I bought it because the local Garden Center touted it as hardy. I do not grow any host plants (that I know of). I do grow lots of plants, like butterfly bushes, cone flowers, lantana, pentas, and verbenas that butterflies like. There must be some host plants for the Pipevine Swallowtails in the area because I get several of those every year. Debra...See Moregarden visitor
Comments (9)I always enjoy seeing turtles and/or tortoises. I'll never forget an encounter with a snapping turtle years back. I was just pulling into the driveway and stopped at the mailbox. As soon as I put my feet on the ground I looked down and there is a huge snapping turtle inches from the driver side front tire. If I'd rolled forward another 6 inches I would have hit him. I recall trying to get him out of the way and reaching for the back of his shell to move him. I've never seen a turtle that big move so fast!! I still don't know it ended up there or where it went after, but it was a very memorable experience....See MoreHosta Garden Visitor
Comments (7)Beautiful Paul. Thanks for the photos. I spent the Memorial Day weekend with my 3 daughters and families at their campers on Lake Sara near Effingham IL. Should I feel the same about mosquitoes? No way. Cicadas don't pierce my body and suck my blood. GO TOADS! Les...See MoreThis week's visitors
Comments (6)I agree, they are beautiful. The only time I can get a picture of a butterfly is when I take the kids to Meijer Gardens when they are hatching the butterflies! Other than that, they are too elusive for me to capture on film. Good job, Diane, you must be very patient, waiting for them to be still! Annie...See MoreDawnInCal
