that would work. just make sure if you get a drum light, that it has either 3-60W bulbs or 2 bulbs that can accept up to 100w (with the LED lights, you can actually use the brighter bulbs because they use little wattage. )

I love your plan-- your work space should be inspiring and motivational. If a tropical design and sunny colors will make you feel ready to face the day no matter the weather and temps, i say go for it! I love pale pink-- but do i remember from past wardrobe posts that blues/greens are more flattering for you than pastels? I am a firm believer that our personal rooms should be in colors that compliment us-- especially if the walls will be a backdrop to your video meetings. I may not be remembering correctly and pink may be perfect-- but whatever you choose, make sure it looks great behind your face! I really like the fabric for your daybed. I don't find a sterile or traditional office space to be all that conducive to great ideas or work. You want to keep it neat and professional but that doesn't discount being creative and personal.

Painting the walls only behind the desk area up to the horizontal trim …inside the cabinets and under desk ….would be a small area..but the contrast there will relieve the wood overkill in your view plane …and allow the details of the desk area to stand out better

Solatubes or solartubes - whichever you prefer to call them are the least expensive & most effective thing you can add to a house if all you need is natural light. We have 5 in our one story extremely energy efficient home built in 2012. Our home faces west with most windows facing east. Our light issue caused by 90’ douglas fir trees on the property east of us & which are right next to our fence line. These solatubes changed my life in this house. We are in PNW so winters can be dreary. Our solatubes came in 2 different sizes & have different types of interior covers for either brighter or more diffused light. One, in a stairwell to bonus room over the garage, has an LED light in it & the tube replaced the existing light fixture & It can be turned on for light fixture after dark. We have one tube in kitchen - it looks like a larger canned ceiling light so matches the look of existing lights.. We changed the canned lights to daylight LED bulbs so that the color of light matches the light coming through solatube if they are on during daylight hours. We have 2 solatubes in Great Room & one smaller Solatube in windowless laundry. None of our tube roof ’bubbles’ can be seen from the street. We have a large hipped roof & placement of tubes was important to us so we did pay extra for the extra lengths of tubing needed to span the attic space from roof tube to interior placement. Solatubes have come a long way in their design.. The ones purchased through big box stores for DIY are not the same quality as better ones though vendors & I would not treat this as a DIY project. We’ve had ours since 2014 so they likely cost more now but we paid @$5K total for all, install included. Here’s a link I found that explains a bit about them.. They are not skylights!
