I also figured out they sold Komodo Dragon in 2007 but it's not listed in their 2010 catalog ==>>> is this the second time you said something like this ... [i think.. lol] naylor buys a certain number of young TC.. pots them up grows them to perfection for a year or two .... and sells them and when they are gone.. they are gone.. i dont understand what significance you are putting on the fact that it is in one years catalog.. and not the next.. all it means.. is that they sold them all.. or they all died ... their biz format is not to have every hosta forever.. they grow and sell the newest and the best.. and if its not new-ish.. it is gone ... and i talked to jack once.. as to why he was selling on the library auctions .... and he basically said.. it was odds and ends.. too few in number to put in the following years catalog .... and if i cant go into the catalog.. and being that they have very few visitors [they are not open to the public] .. any $$$ is better than nothing .... and it had nothing to do with what the actual hosta was.... its simply a function of making space.. for the next .. newest and latest .... my QOTS.. is much more vase shaped.. in deep shade ... my komodo dragon is about 5 feet tall and 8 feet wide ....... it has been dead to the ground for months.. i dont recall is leaf pattern .... your 3 hosta.. in the pic above.. are at least 3 feet too close together ... ken

Maow, you should be able to load one photo per post using the Chrome browser with no issues. Perhaps GW was having an issue earlier? You can also load the pics directly from your phone or iPad directly into a post using the same functionality as you would with a computer. Simply browse for the picture you want to post. An app I use on my iPhone and iPad called PhotoGrid would allow you to add text directly to a photo very easily. You can adjust the font, size and color of the text quite easily within the app. You can also add borders to your photos and do a lot of other editing, including creating collages with multiple pictures. Thanks mocs for trying, it is really cute and thick, so slugs should be kept at bay. I bought a bigger hosta carnival at the same place, could it be the same plant? You mentioned about the rugosity when it matures, so it got me thinking. The colors are similar, but the carnival has some texture to it and the leaves are a little rounder. Trying to upload anothet photo, but the web won't take it, can I only do one photo per post? What am I doing wrong? Thanks Steve for trying as well. I should have known it will bother me all the time until I ID the plant, it was just an impulse buy, the soft colors and cupping of the leaves were so different than my mostly heart shaped ones, that I really just had to have it, but what really got me excited was when I touched the leaves and felt the thickness, my heart just went thump thump, you know? I know... crazy and hopeless :(

Looks like the classic "green-and-white one" - another vote for Undulata Albomarginata... and note that Undulata is capitalized, not small... back in the day we called it H. undulata 'Albomarginata' when we believed there was a species undulata. and I believe current thinking is that this one is actually not closely related to the other ones we know as Undulata... Undulata, Undulata Mediovariegata, Undulate Erromena, U Univittata They are all described as "Parentage Unknown." We do know that hostas were introduced to Europe and the US by ambassadors bringing them back as ornamental plants... I'm thinking in the late 1800s... and given the rapidity with which this one reproduces and the way its been around for so long - so it wouldn't likely ever be put in tissue culture and it probably was maybe never necessary to import more stock from Japan, and it rapidly became known as "the friendship plant" because it was so easy to pass along... it is entirely possible that this plant is a direct clone from one of those brought to the US by sailing ship all that time ago...
