Bootup Has Changed?

All Day I fought with this computer to boot!
I would power on and the HD would start to spin and then stop.

It would get to where the screen displayed the computers manufacturer name LENOVO and that is as far as it would go!
I had to use the power button to power off.

I did this a number of times!

I then did the ... Unplug, power on ... HD spin and stop, power off routine over and over.

I tried everything I could think of!

After more than five or six hours ... For no particular reason I unplugged the two bluray USB plugins from the front.

One plugin is for my Microsoft mouse and keyboard, the other is for my Logitech headset.
After unplugging the USBs ... the computer booted right to the desktop??

I'm guessing that the pc was trying to boot from one of the devices but I don't know Why?
I haven't changed any settings and I wouldn't know how anyway?

If the boot startup really has changed from it's original settings, how could I change it back?

If it helps, I am posting what I think are important details about my system?

It's a mystery for now,

My windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit will not boot at times when the HDMI connector is connected. The first thing we ask when helping with an un-bootable computer is to disconnect everything including modem / router.

Is your computer booting normally now with those USB devices connected ?

If you continue to experience this problem you would want to check the boot order in BIOS and have the laptop boot from the "C" drive first, for some reason it's possible your boot order got messed up and it's looking at the CD Rom drive then it looks at usb. In your case it may see files on the usb and get confused and unable to boot. I can't identify the problem with my machine just yet.

How long have you owned this? Is this a pc bought used? When did it stop working normally?

Maybe I missed it in the flood of info but what Windows version?

Whatever changes have been made to the original Pine Sol has now made it able to be called a disinfectant. Back in the 80s, the public health department of Idaho told our church camp it had to stop using Pine Sol in the showers and the toilets as they did not disinfect anything, we were ordered to use bleach. When i was in college Bacteriology lab, we tested Lysol, Pine Sol, and a petri dish without anything. We used swabs from our own mouths to then swab onto the cultures in the three dishes. The control dish of course was loaded with growth colonies like crazy, the lysol had maybe on little spot, and the old Pine Sol (1975) grew colonies of bacteria as much as the control plate without anything. So something major has changed under Clorox that has made it a disinfectant that can kill 99,9% of germs and bacteria, and now is approved for use against COVID 19. So maybe it doesn't smell or work the same, but it doesn't grow bacteria like it use to.

That's a good question. I was using a Dell Inspiron 4000 w/ windows 2000 professional and before that a Compaq latitude (I think) also with Win2000 professional. The compaq had a lot of the typical corporate stuff on it, like outlook, office, etc. Both of these computers took at least 3 minutes to get up and running, despite turning off apps from start-up, periodically running antivirus, ad-aware, etc., and also defragging and running disc-clean-up. Based on all this, and also through conversations with strangers on their laptops (in places like Panera, starbucks, etc.) I thought that a couple minutes was typical. If I could get the Inspiron to boot in less than a minute I would keep it. But right now it's too aggravating to use. Any advice on that would be greatly appreciated.

It wasn't hard at all- use this page for step by step instructions and lay out your screws with labels for what they go to, and the order of removal, and you're good to go! Just take your time. https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_g_z_50_series_hmm.pdf I even upgrade the laptop a little bit bc the one off ebay was a 50-80, which has a 2.2ghz as opposed to my 1.7. Same fittings everywhere, so no problem swapping. This one has a removable (not by solder) CMOS too, which I like.

Also using quotes around a set of words in the Google search box will keep those words together. For example if you want to find information on the rose called Rural England then put quotes around it “Rural England” then the word rose without quotes or Google will find lots of pages with the words England and words rural found separately but not necessarily together. But you do want the word rose in the search box too otherwise rural England could bring up lots of pages that have nothing to do with roses, but not necessarily inside the quotes or it will only find pages with the words in the exact order as you put inside the quotes.

Strange!

I turned off and then tried to restart the PC and as I suspected it did the same boot to Lenovo screen and stop again.

First a little about the connections.

I have the Logitech USB and the Microsoft mouse and keyboard USB plugged into the two USB ports on the front of my PC.

I shut down the PC and pulled the Logitech USB out of the front and plugged it into a rear port and tried a restart.
No luck.

I then pulled the Microsoft USB out and the computer booted to the desktop!

I had to plug the Microsoft USB into the other port on the back of the computer and as of now, I haven't tried to restart the PC.

I am going to wait until later to see if the PC will boot normally now that I've swapped everything around?
(I have things I need to do and am tired of messing around with it)

None of this happened until today when I tried to power on?

I just don't get it?

If I still get the problem, it can only be the mouse or maybe a problem with one of the front ports?

Both devices (mouse and headphones) work once the PC is running!

Well the headphones work fine but the mouse is getting to be a PITA!

The cursor is almost uncontrollable and it is FRUSTRATING!

Yes, the drivers for the mouse and keyboard are up to date.

The keyboard works fine but as I said, the mouse is becoming a PITA!

Why would you not plug these devices in after you boot up the PC? headset etc. There are specific ports on the back of most PC towers for each device often color coded devices such as kb, or mouse, headset can be plugged in front.

My devices run through USB receivers which plug into USB ports!

(No wires)

Well I could unplug the Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse USB and the Logitech wireless headset USB each time I shut down and then plug them both back in every time I start up but .. Why?

It isn't supposed to work that way which means that there is a problem.

I might have the answer though.

This morning I tried to power on (with both USB devices plugged in) and of course .. the PC hung at the Lenovo screen and wouldn't boot further.

I powered off and unplugged the Logitech device and the PC booted normally ... With the Microsoft keyboard/mouse still plugged in.

Looks like the Logitech headset USB receiver is the problem?

I am still going to have to purchase another keyboard/mouse combo though because the cursor has become almost unmanageable! 8(

If you move it to a different USB Slot does it have the same boot problem ?
