Help me ID a rose pink childhood favourite

My favourite pink rose from my childhood finally kicked the bucket last year, and my mom had no idea what its name was. I went through several online vendors trying to find a replacement and finally got Pink Peace. And Pink Peace is gorgeous, but it wasn't the rose I was looking for. My childhood rose was a shade lighter than Pink Peace, and with a high-centered bloom form that didn't spread quite as much as Pink Peace.

It's a fragrant hybrid tea.

The colour is closest to what Wikipedia lists as rose pink. The petal colour was more or less uniform, maybe with a lighter reverse.

It's at least 20 years old, but probably older.

Any suggestions for what this rose could be? I'm really nostalgic for it now, and sadly, I don't even have a picture...

Could it possibly be Bewitched or Fragrant Memory, also known as Jadis? Here's a picture of Bewitched.

Thank you, Sara-Ann - that's a pretty rose, and in some photos on helpmefind, it's not dissimilar to the one I'm looking for. But Fragrant Memory was never widely available in Europe, it seems.

I was wrong, however, I did manage to find one single photo of the rose just before it gave up the ghost (see top post). Obviously, it doesn't show the rose at its best, but it does give a good impression of the colour. I'm pretty sure that's not Pink Peace, but what is it?

Pink roses are so hard to ID because there are just so many of them! What ever you're doing keep doing it because it looks gorgeous and very healthy! After it finishes blooming dead head it and see if it re-blooms. Whether it does or doesn't will help narrow down the choices somewhat.

...just my observations but I agree with others that it's a dead ringer for 'Zephirine Drouhin'...going from the description.... and I assume this will be from the 1950's?... when I read earlier descriptions of this rose, they all seem to agree that it blooms until checked by frost and the disease issues that we see today, don't appear to have been such a problem in earlier times.... over here it's always put down to increased pollution kept these issues at bay, but today's cleaner air allows more black spot and mildew to proliferate... that's how I understand it... ....I can imagine in Shelbyville Texas, decades ago, this rose would have still been regarded as disease resistant... ...even here, it also grows to 8 foot or so in its first year.... all sounds about right...

I know, right? Not only is it a different shade of pink than Pink Peace, but the petals also look different. Heck, even if I can't positively identify this rose, I'd be happy with a recommendation for something similar. But the thing is, I haven't even found anything similar to that rose - and you'd think the colour above was fairly common in hybrid teas.

Any other suggestions? I really need this rose in my life again. :)

I contacted two major rose nurseries, and both kindly replied.

One suggested Zephirine Drouhin, but I'm positive my childhood rose wasn't a climber.

The other suggested Romanze, which based on photographs looks more like my rose. Except that Romanze has a hint of salmon in some photos, while my rose was always a clean, clear pink. Does anyone here grow Romanze?

Thanks, Kelly! Earth Song was never widely available in Denmark, I think, but it does indeed look very similar.

Jasmine, I think it used to reach a height of three feet, but like a tragic heroine in a 19th century novel, it went into a decline, shrinking until it was barely a foot tall last year.

Is there any possibility it could be Maria Callas aka as Miss All American Beauty in the USA? Even though your picture doesn't remind me a lot of it, you stated the blooms were high centered, and i thought it might possibly be the one. I've also had blooms of this that were a lighter shade than in this picture, it's the only one I could find.

I was going to guess Perfume Delight as well. She is just a half shade lighter than Pink Peace or Maria Callas, probably the most similar to the pic you posted.

Maria Callas and Perfume Delight both look to be gorgeous roses. Callas (love the soprano after which it was named) seems more hot pink than mine, while PD seems unlikely because of geographical availability. Thank you, Ben, Vasue, and Sara-Ann, for your suggestions!
