What are your plans for the weekend? March 19/20
Comments (11)I own a greenhouse. It's been sunny and I am tweeking that final push on the spring line before they're all benched and ready to grow on and finish off. The sewing room still calls like a siren's song, and I sneak an hour up there each morning with my cuppa so that I don't lose my enthusiasm when something goes into UFO status. I finished my twister baby quilt last weeekend, washed it and hung it on the line to dry and my 'hunter's eyes' caught something bright moving as the breezes wafted the little quilt around. CAN YOU BELIEVE I quilted a pin into the batting? OMGosh...for a baby, none-the-less. So, Since it's near the middle, there is no way I can get to it, to remove it, other than poke a little hole in the back and pull it out, since it has that big, yellow, head on it. Oh bother! Then I get to repair it somehow, prolly with an applique. I hate to do appliques. LOL. What I am working on now, is machine quilting my scrappy quilt. I always use Warm and Natural, but this time, I used the highest loft poly I could get and it's making the blocks puff out like a comforter. I'm loving it. I don't know what the pattern is called, but it's a duplicate of my g'mother's quilt. The closest pattern I can find to it is Blue Ridge Beauty, but it's not exactly the same. The background diamonds are sky blue and blue paisley and the center blocks are four patch scrappies. And I worked in diamonds en pointe in white in the middle of the quilt and all around the borders. I'm liking it, but the quilting is going much slower than I'd anticipated. I've been four days so far and it's about a third done....See MoreWhat are your plans for the last weekend in March?
Comments (9)I planned on getting my daughter's pillow shams done but my girls are out of town for the weekend so I had to entertain my son last night. We started a 1000 piece puzzle and finished it up this morning. We really have no one around here for him to play with and he gets very lonely. Today I will get to sew some. I'm using the extra squares I got while making the Pineapple Blossom to make the shams, not sure if I like it or not. If I can find the left over batiks from the last birthday block I may make a lotto block for March. We had to move all my sewing stuff last weekend because we had church here and now I can't find a thing! Vicky...See MoreWhat Are Your Plans for This Weekend?
Comments (9)It's football Saturday here so not much gets done. Yesterday I got a new server table for our dining room. It's so pretty. It was advertised in our On Top of the World newspaper and was brand new still in the box. I got a really good deal on it and badly needed something to put casseroles, etc. on when we have guests. It's so nice and doesn't take up a lot of room. So I've been experimenting on "stuff" to put on the shelves. It has two lined drawers in which I'll probably store napkins/placemats. Tomorrow I want to bake some and make Glenda's blueberry dessert. Don't like pro football so Sunday's are pretty boring around here....See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? June 7-9
Comments (23)Thanks, Theresa, Char, Larri and Donna. The blocks finish at 10.5" but they will have sashing and cornerstones. The little squares are cut at 2". Here is a picture of the quilt done in reds. I found a border stripe that I liked in browns, but the fabric I bought for the setting triangles may or may not work. I think its main problem is that it's a solid color, and every other fabric in the quilt, except for the border, is a civil war print. It's also quite red. I'll keep looking....See Morewildchild2x2
