Am I crazy that I am already planning for the fall Swaps to start
Comments (7)Lowe's may have seeds year round from what I've been told. They won't be clearance racking any of those this year. We've got orders to keep the shelves stocked and neatly organized. I think it has something to do with the economy. I've already started collecting my own seeds. I'm not saving them yet, but spreading them where I want more of something next year. I'll start collecting once the breadseed poppies are ripe....See MoreCountertop install nightmare. Am I crazy? Tell me I'm not crazy.
Comments (46)UPDATE: Thanks to you guys here (and mostly thanks to Joseph Corlett's link regarding Silestone slab sizes), they agreed to do away with one of the seams. They kept insisting that they would not do a stretch of stone more than 110", and when I insisted that my color of Silestone comes in jumbo slabs of 128", they "did some research" and conceded that I was correct, and there is no need for two seams in my 150" stretch of counter. I'm updating here for anyone who may have the same questions and issues that I did. I spent countless hours researching and digging and arguing, so hopefully I can save someone else the hassle. You can check the Silestone website for the slab sizes in your color. There is no need for a seam to "prevent cracks"; Silestone is (allegedly) 4x bendier than granite, and if you wanted to put the whole damn slab down you could. Keep in mind though - if your Silestone DOES crack or chip at some point (and it will...it's notorious for chipping despite the durability claims) - you're on the hook for it. Their "warranty" does not cover cracks or chips. Hundreds of consumers have told their stories about bumping a water glass against the edge and it chips, with no damage to the glass, and Cosentino denies the claims, citing abuse of the counter or something. Same with random cracks, etc. Just be aware - these are issues that you will have to call Joseph Corlett to come fix, out of your own pocket. I love the look of mine so I'm willing to deal with those issues, but buyer beware....See MorePental Quartz Sorano Honed HELP
Comments (98)I am SO glad I found this post. Thank you Amy for starting it! I love soapstone but for many reasons it's not practical for our kitchen. The cabinet shop showed me the PentalQuartz in Sorona in Honed and Polished and I immediately liked the honed. Thank you for all of your insights and experiences. We have chosen similar cabinet design/color so it's super helpful to see your finished kitchen! Thanks again!...See MorePental quartz - volakano (new color)
Comments (78)@seamom3 I am planning on using the same countertop material going on top as the vanity on the light mushroom color cabinets and putting it also on all three sides of the shower glass threshold and the shower bench inside of the shower. The tile on the shower walls is Bedrosian Cloe in the white shade which has different shades of warm whites and almost light grey variations depending on the tile piece and on the shower floor pan is a coordinating warm grey penny tile, also Bedrosian. The Valkano seems to work with both of these in the shower as there is no carrerra in the shower itself. Rather, the carrera mosaic is on the floor all outside of the shower in the Bedrosian Blomma pattern which has varying shades of white and carerra greys. So the Valkano which would be on all three sides of the bottom shower 4 inch threshold would abut the carrera mosaic floor outside of the shower area itself. Thanks for the insight as I think you are right that it may be a problem in this area having them right next to each other near the shower opening. I'm not putting the Carrera base board anywhere inside of the shower itself. Rather, was planning to use it around the perimeter bathroom walls outside of the shower as floor board instead of using a wood baseboard. Thanks so much for your picture and input. It is very helpful. The Valkano really is the prettiest solid surfact quartz I have seen....See MoreLadybugs_mom SF Bay Area Z9
