Comments (9)Ok, saltcedar has you covered--I'll answer the remaining one! Guessing it's Seaside Mahoe, Thespesia populnea, or Hibiscus tiliaceus. Can't speak for Australia, but both are invasive exotics in south Florida, and are especially troublesome in the Everglades, where they are displacing our native mangroves. Both plants have hibiscus-like flowers and set copious amounts of seed, which are then devoured by birds and spread. Here's an Australian link, which may be more pertinent to your particular situation. www.hibiscus.org/gfx/tpopul-flower.jpg Good luck, seedmoney...See MoreHelping Vintage and San Jose Heritage Rose Garden
Comments (14)I posted some pictures of the SJHRG back in May on the gallery. The link is below. The SJHRG is also involved in planting roses along the Santa Clara University Fence. See photos from that here: http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/rosesant/gal0503114413560.html Here is a link that might be useful: More photos of the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden...See MoreGregg Loweryâs Garden (aka Vintage Garden) Becomes Nonprofit
Comments (7)Wondering what is going on with this? I just saw this post (while looking for details about his annual open gardens) and the link to the newsletter seems to be down/broken. Gregg's garden is worthy of non-profit status, it's an absolute treasure, and I'd love to find out more information on how people can help....See MoreHippeastrum striatum blooming in the garden
Comments (12)Thanks! I get containers from a lot of places: Baker Nursery (great for colorful glazed Talavera pots), Berridge Nursery, Lowes Hardware, Home Depot, Shady Way Nursery (out in AJ but great plants and a nice selection of unusual pots), just about anywhere really. I try to stick to terracotta and talavera or red glazed pots, just to try to keep things from being too scattered colorwise (for the pots anyway, anything goes when it comes to plants!). Thanks for looking/commenting! Happy gardening (and pot shopping!), Grant. Here is a link that might be useful: Pics, so far, from my garden April 2012...See MoreJulie Wignell
