100+ Year Old Red Oak Stain HELP!
Comments (4)Thats a lot of stains on youre floor. Its good to see samples on your floor but you really should have narrowed down to the tone you wanted first. If you happen to go a lighter stain or even the natural youre guy is going to have a hard time cleaning up that ebony sample. You need to figure out if you want a dark floor or not first. And then decide how much red/yellow you want. We cant see how you plan decorating youre house. Any of those colors would look good. Darker colors are harder to maintain but the darker you start going the better the feather patch will blend in with the exsisting. It doesnt take much to lessen the difference. Your guy is using duraseal it looks like. Nutmeg is an example that would help hide the patch work....See MoreWhich stain - Red oak floor + cherry cabinets
Comments (14)Just lost internet and my message - Grrr I really struggled with this as well. I didn't want to replace the floor, so sanded and coated- no stain. It is oak but not solid oak(I think it would bring called an oak laminate- probably has 8-18 years of life left) Everything looked like we were trying to match but failed. The floor has a lot of variation in it. If I started from scratch- I would have more contrast similar to badgergal....See MoreHas anyone used Minwax stain Red mahogany or English Chestnut
Comments (4)I did not use it on my floor, but I did use it on my front door, which may or may not help:My floor is oak, and we have not changed the finish. The door is mahogany instead of oak, and so it may take the stain differently. I could show you a photo of the exterior of the door, but it is a slightly different color because we put a different stain on that side first and then tried to remove it because it was too red, and while we did remove most of the stain, there was a slight residue that makes it slightly different from the interior side. No one has really noticed until I tell them, however....See MoreDuraseal Chestnut Stain on Red Oak? Please post your photos! TIA!
Comments (5)Even though its a smaller section to look at I think in person will give you a better idea than a picture online. We always send samples for client to decide on. Pictures would never work....See Morejakkom
