subway tile choices for shower wall.
Comments (3)Thanks for the link. I'm still not sure what direction to go, cermaic or glass. I think it would be harder to find a ceramic subway tile with the aqua green tint that I was originally going for. But maybe the white would work if I added a little color to the grout. Has anyone else added color into their grout to give a different hue to their tile??...See MoreTile choice for master shower
Comments (2)Go to DAL TILE - Modern Dimensions At the bottom of page under specifications click sizes. I have installed it so at least it was available. Possibly not available online. I suggest calling DAL directly for a product number. DAL will give you product info but not pricing....See More48"x36" master shower - tile choices
Comments (21)A good quality manufactured shower base/receptor can be very nice. Kohler make some nice ones from acrylic and some from cast iron, I think the reason people don't usually like them is that they've stood on ones that flex....cast iron won't do that. Then there is stuff like Corian that is sold through dealers. They make the floor installation a lot easier, but you obviously have to like the way they look. But it is far more sensible to use a continuous waterproof tray made in a factory that you just put down rather than assembling layers of plastic, mortar, waterproof membranes and finally tile and grout that is not waterproof. I very nearly used a Kohler base, but they didn't make a large enough one in cast iron and so I would have had to get a custom solid surface one and it was just easier and faster to put down a mud floor and waterproof it and tile. I think your contractor should remove the existing floor as who knows what's going on with the liner or maybe install something like the Kerdi system that you tehn tile over. They have a system that makes a lot of the tricky aspects of shower construction quite simple....See MoreNew shower (wall and pan) tile at a rental - what is the best choice?
Comments (20)yes, the large white porcelain tile would work w/just about everything. (as long as you get a vanity top replacement at some point. the creamy yellow doesn't go w/the brighter white) I understand that floor tile is in other parts, but redoing only the shower only to go back in at a later point to redo the bathroom floor seems like a waste. You already have the bathroom torn up. taking up that ceramic tile is messy and dusty. You're already going to have a tiler in the bathroom doing the shower, so have him to the floor at the same time! This bathroom tile doesn't have to match the other tile in the laudry room or kitchen! You could do a dark charcoal floor tile and the white wall tile. (the black or charcoal would look perfect next to the laminate flooring) for example, I did this porcelain charcoal tile for a clients bathroom redo. the shower floor is also a porcelain tile in a herringbone design The shower curb is a quartz backsplash. they come in a 9'X6" piece. we cut it to length and took off 2" to top the 4" shower curb. You can buy these for $60 or so. here's the shower floor You could do a solid white wall tile in a 12x24, 24x24 , 18x18 or similar size. (the larger the tile, the less grout to keep clean) similar design inexpensive porcelain black and white basketweave floor tile. for inside and/or outside the shower floor or do a larger square cool tile for outside the shower. the black or charcoal would look perfect against the warm reddish laminate flooring. (lowes has this) you could also do a larger hex tile in a marble look porcelain. matte black large hex. paired w/white tile, and whatever else you plan on doing in there, is a good neutral then, get a pre-fab white quartz vanity top. (youre in Calif? you can find these all over the place for cheap) Dal Tile Ash Gray larger hex floor tile. it's warm enough to coordinate w/the mahogany lam....See MoreLoretta Seeker
