Thanks everybody for the enabling. I ordered a DEUIL DE DR. REYNAUD from Countryside Roses for spring delivery. I plan to grew him up an East facing trellis next to Climbing La France. Man-oh-man I can't wait to see this rose do his thing. If the fragrance is as powerful as Madame Isaac Periere then I'm in for swoon-worthy experience. In my experience color of these two roses is identical. If I cut one bloom from DdDR and another one from MIP, I would not be able to say which is which. I am still not convinced these are two different roses. Olga

Mine's been in the ground a year, and its flowers are absolutely divine. Mine is really puny, though. It doesn't seem to want to put on much new growth. I don't know if I should give it better food, or just be a lot more patient, but I'm getting a little bit frustrated with its scrawniness -- especially now that someone else posted pictures of *their* second year Dr. Reynaud, and it was ginormous! Gosh, what a fragrance, though. And I love the color.

mauvegirl, I no longer have either rose, the first due to gopher depradation and the second because I took it out. Deuil was a lovely and very fragrant rose for me, completely healthy, with long and lax canes and beautiful flowers which didn't like my heat. I think judging from its growth that it would do very well growing up an obelisk. It was a strong grower with a lot of leaf coverage in my warm and dry climate, with no disease. I think it may be a better rose than Commice; certainly Olga thinks so and her judgment is excellent. I remember seeing a picture on the forum of Deuil rambling over a fence, so it seems quite vigorous. I don't think it's the same rose as Commice. Ingrid
