Who is vegetable gardening for the first time?
Comments (23)This is the first year for my two raised vegetable gardens which I put together back in March. Started off back then with tomato plants that I sprouted from store bought Roma tomatoes, some bell pepper plants from the box stores and a WHOLE seed packet of Arugula that I thought was a butterfly attracting plant (packet only said "herb-rocket"). Imagine my suprise when every seed must have sprouted and I found out exactly what I had. I ended up separating them into about 12 separate bunches. Those were great while they lasted, but as they got older...whew...did they pack a peppery punch. The bell peppers really didn't produce for me and collected a couple of hot peppers that I'd planted as well. Everything just withered away during the summer heat and I've replanted with more tomatoes (grape, roma, celebrity, and sweet 100), jalapeno and banana peppers, cilantro, cucumbers, carrots, dill, parsley, rosemary, thyme, basil, sage and green unions. Just seeded some Romaine lettuce as well. I hope I have good luck with those as my family loves salads. Can anyone recommend some good lettuces that I might still be able to harvest with planting at this time? Mike (Apopka)...See MoreYour Own Housecleaning Habits
Comments (21)I'm back, and I made a tentative schedule for myself. You're right, because there are more people and animals in my house, your exact schedule will not work for me. But I used the idea of it, and expanded, so I will start with this. As time goes on I think I will add to it. All of these things I already do, though not often enough. Having it written down will help me alot, so I thank you. This list is in addition to laundry and dishes, which I have to do daily in my house. I average one to two loads of laundry a day, and wash dishes once or twice also. So here's my new cleaning schedule: Cleaning Schedule Daily Sunday Clean bathroom. Sweep hallway and living room. Pick up clutter in hotspots Clean sinks. Monday Dust surfaces throughout home. Dust television and computer screens. Pick up clutter throughout home. Clean sinks. Swish toilet Clean old food out of fridge and wipe areas you can see. Tuesday Clean out car. Vacuum with shop vac. Clean sinks. Swish toilet. Clean kitchen floor with rag on hands and knees to get in the corners. Wednesday Clean bathroom. Sweep hallway and living room. Pick up clutter in hotspots. Thursday Sweep/mop throughout home. Pick up clutter. Clean counters thoroughly and wipe with bleach if necessary. Clean sinks. Swish toilet. Friday Clean off dryer and wipe down washer and dryer with bleach cleaner. Sweep laundry area. Clean sinks. Swish toilet. Clean bathroom mirror if needed. Saturday Dust surfaces throughout home. Vacuum carpeted areas Shampoo carpets as necessary. Clean sinks. Swish toilet. Pick one drawer or cabinet in the home and clean it. Monthly Week One: Clean ceiling fans Week Two: Clean all doors throughout home Week Three: Clean windows Week Four: Take everything out of refrigerator and thoroughly clean fridge, inside and out....See MoreHousecleaner coming; quick and easy way to change log on
Comments (14)we are not talking about router or wireless passwords we are talking about the password you have to use to get into your computer files and OS, the admin password or if using a user account the password for that. And yes if I reboot or restart I have to enter the password for that account each time. I also am the only one using mine but not all threats are from in home. Having the actual accounts passworded with strong passwords will stop hackers from being able to access your computer, being behind a router with a built in firewall is definitely a big plus for security also. this MS technet article explains why you need those passwords, yes in this case they are discussing an organization but your home should be handled the same way. Strong passwords But with the advice to put a password on your Admin account also comes the warning to make sure you keep that password somewhere safe because you DO NOT want to forget that one! Admin passwords should never be real words, always a combo of numbers and letters and various case, throw in a couple of #$%* to make it even stronger. Or use a password generator. Comments (25)I have hardwoods through the whole house and use the Hoover Floormate- it scrubs the floor with water and solution and slurps it back up. Between 2 kids, DH, and 3 furbabies I use it daily. I have carpeted stairs and of course anyone that has to have an accident will go on my stairs. I bought a Bissell carpet machine thingy, not sure what its called but I love it. Its about $90 at Target, and you can buy a pet formula to use in the machine. Once again, I LOVE IT! I keep a schedule of when everything is to be cleaned and stay on it. Also all 3 furkids get a bath once a week. I suggest checking out www.flylady.com Its a great way to get organized and get the house cleaned and keep it clean using baby steps....See MoreBunny
