Comments (60)So here's how they look from further back... which is why I mistakenly said they looked fine. It's been chilly here (to me... not to anyone else) for the past couple days, so I've stayed in the house and done "house things." Today, I went out there and took these pics: And here we have close-ups of some examples of what I'm seeing happening. Also, I've noticed the new leaves seem stunted. They don't grow very big before they either stop growing or fall off. Misshapen leaves, 'browning out'... Hard to really tell in this picture, but the leaf in the center is sorta 'browning out.' If this was a fancy goldfish, I'd say this one has 'dropsy.' Some weird new-growth habit, among other things. More brown spots, plus white spots. At the edge of the pot, you can see the leaves are dying here and there. This is an attempt at a close-up of one of the worst ones. Small leaves that fall off if you even touch them. Another particularly affected plant. The first sign of a problem on a previously robust plant. I don't know what the problem is, but it's obviously contagious. I'm going to have to pull all of this out, dump the brand new potting media into the trash, wash and sterilize the pots, wait for some undetermined length of time, then replace it all. Super bummer. I only hope that whatever it is doesn't spread to things that AREN'T Coleus....See MoreReveal: DIY update (skip if you're sick of white kitchens)
Comments (53)Hi, tuesday_2008! To the left of the range, there are three actual doors on the bottom cabinet--we keep skillets, pans, and cutting boards in there. To the right of the range, we have a super susan with a fold out door. While the fold out door is a little clunky, you can't beat the lazy susan for storing small appliances. I would miss it if we didn't have one. I think the brush painted frames and spray painted doors blend well. Most of the cabinet box area is covered by the doors, and the primer was sandable so we were able to ensure a pretty smooth finish. We did tell ourselves we would leave the option open to brush paint the final coat on the cabinet doors if needed, but we didn't find it necessary. I've also heard of people quickly running a brush over the final sprayed coat to give it a lightly brushed look. They seem to be wearing equally well, thank goodness. I think as long as you have good surface prep, you'll be great. Hope this helps!...See MoreDIY update for the kitchen
Comments (7)My kitchen is very similar in color and compact, by choice. Your colors are neutral and IMO lovely, so now you have the chance to add your favorite color in little pops. A pendant light over the island could bring more light in and add some personality. I think you might bring a little more color to the window treatment, and a style that softens the plain square shape. My first suggestion is to DECLUTTER. I have never been a fan of covering appliances with papers and "stuff." It appears that you don't have enough storage. Do you use each of the small appliances every day? You don't have to part with them, but perhaps a cabinet downstairs could house the ones you use infrequently, also extra holiday china and severing pieces etc. By organizing, you can free up space in your cabinets for items you need every day....See MoreDIY Bathroom Update
Comments (5)Have a couple of suggestions. Paint the vanity a deep color that works with the stone (and takes your eye away from not only the brown, but yellow hues as well.) B,M, Plum Royale Walls: B.M. Abalone If your wallet allows, big time back in, is brushed gold faucets, etc. If you are set on a navy vanity, try a bold (peelable) wallpaper....See MoreTerri_PacNW
