we are in eastern Mass, but not sure if considered "sandy" part! If you mean along the shore or down near the Cape, then no. About 25 miles southwest of Boston. It does seem bent-like, and I've almost always had tufts and patches of bentgrass (the bane of my existence in what is otherwise kbg, rye, fescue mix) and this seems way more aggressively vine-like. While the other bent patches are carpet-like, this one is more like a clump with 1 definitive vine. The clump in the picture is just one that is lonely in the mulch bed, but the lawn itself near this area is a whole big patch of this stuff. Thank you!

Don't know if the plant will make it. While removing the diseased parts I saw that the main stem at ground level is split open with some tan colored substance coming out. So maybe it is hanging on a thread at this point. Our weather has been excessively swampy which is normal for us in mid to late July. I've a feeling that had a negative impact on it. We do have pumpkin growers in our region but I imagine their fields have better circulation than us. We are living at the edge of the woods and the air here is often quite still and humid. That doesn't help. I'm keeping a close eye on it and hoping it can survive long enough to pick our veggie. This made me think about the summer our neighbors gave us a tomato plant and it gave us one solitary tomato! Lol
