Laundry room remodel question

I want to finish the basement laundry area in our new house. The adjacent space is unfinished storage and the area for the furnace/ac/water heater (finished basement beyond and will be connected by door).

When I look at this area it feels to me like we need to wall off the utility area and move the sink out a few feet (with drywall behind, and putting in a sink base with good sink). That will cause me to move the washer dryer down about two feet ( we will cut off the wooden storage shelves and make a wall there).

My questions - how hard/expensive will it be to move the piping and drain for the sink and washer dryer over/out a foot or two to accommodate this? Do you see another way to make this work better?

i have attached pictures starting looking to the left of the entry door and moving clockwise through the room so you can get a feel for the space. I am thinking the laundry room would end just before the window in the last picture, and there would be a door to the storage area there, however in the picture in my head that puts the door to the storage room right in from of the washer/dryer.

You can bring the water over head and down the new wall, You'll have to saw cut the concrete and bring the drain over to the new wall location. On the other hand it looks like theres a floor drain out front of the sink, which could be utilized.

I am hoping the existing floor drain can be used, it will likely be right in front of the new wall though. Any concerns with that?

For mgnohio in response to his/her houzz message request to see the tile we used in our bathroom. These are in progress pics taken last March. I still intend to get finished photos of my bathroom and laundry room posted but life has thrown us several curve balls lately and 2017 isn't starting out any better. My DH is recovering from multiple pulmonary embolisms so this month has been full of hospital stays, ER visits and doctor visits. He's recovering but it scared the crap out of both of us. The lesson here is that if you experience a sharp calf pain that lasts more than a few days and you don't know the cause of the pain, even if it doesn't present with the classic DVT symptoms (his didn't nor did he have any risk factors for developing DVT), insist on an ultrasound of the calf. If we had done that, we could have taken immediate steps to prevent this serious medical issue from becoming something far worse. We are so thankful that it didn't take his life.

Tdgoetz, you do not need to justify and explain why you’re spending the money, or how much it will cost! People shouldn’t make comments about that, as A. it’s your business and B. I’m sure you have your reasons. We, too, found ours in a similar situation, but we are doing our reno in smaller steps....sometimes it’s good to live in a space and really get to know it before making reno decisions. Had I had the time (between closing and moving in), the foresight and idea, I would have switched the location of my office and laundry room with our current guest room and en-suite bath. Alas, we didn’t really have the time, needed the bath and laundry (because we were renovating the master bath), and now that both laundry and bath have been completely done I had the epiphany to switch the two suites!! I may still do this down the road if I don’t some lying-around money, but hubs, of course, thinks I’m nuts. Oh, well....live and learn. As to your laundry room, I totally understand why you want to reno it....I would use (since you want to keep things light) lighter wood than in the kitchen (but similar style), and lighter counter tops, either granite or quartz. Get a plumber out there, May have to break some concrete and put a couple fittings on, Sink drains are 2", so he will go from the existing 3" to a 2" and up your wall, If you still need the floor drain for whatever reason it may have to move as well.

Ok, thanks. We will have someone doing this for us, I am not going to attempt it myself. I was just curious how big (read expensive) it would be to change the current set up.
