Question for Marble Countertop Owners
Comments (2)This will probably vary depending on the marble but the first etch on mine around the sink was from liquid soap. At some point, you seal and cannot worry about every single one or you won't enjoy the stone. I keep the dish soap in a separate container and put it in the sink on the grid when I need it or under the sink. Check the hardness of the marble you're going with and that should help somewhat on this issue. Having said that we love our marble and even DH, who could basically care less, always says how much he likes it....See Moremarble countertop owners...to hone or not to hone
Comments (10)rubyvine, before I sealed my honed marble, it was indeed like a sponge ... water soaked right in! I sealed it myself with 511 Impregnator available from Home Depot ... easy process: spray on, rub in and wipe excess off. Now water and other liquids stay on the surface. I've spilled all kinds of stuff on it: coffee, tomato sauce, soy sauce ... some of the drips sat overnight ... and no stains. I can't urge you strongly enough to get a good sized sample of the honed marble, seal it and then abuse it. Drip some lemon juice on it so that you'll know what etching looks like and whether or not you can tolerate it. Good luck! Erika...See MoreTo all owners of Jet Mist/ Virginia Mist counter tops
Comments (26)We are considering jet mist but have a small kitchen and wonder if we should go with white quartz to keep it light and airy. Does anyone have a picture of it in your space? All of the pictures on here are stunning and worthy of spreads in Architectural Design, but not an apples to apples comparison to what what our kitchen would look like!!...See MoreAny home owners who have used 'Clearstone' on their marble countertops
Comments (25)LOL 'Just remember, you can grow to love reliable and utilitarian a lot easier than you can a demanding diva.' !!! Thanks Joseph I understand now - sorry I misunderstood… I completely agree which is why clearstone is off the table for us….I know nothing is perfect - I was pointing out that for the cost I don't want to end up with a product that scratches more or at a minimum shows scratches more With very low expectations I am going to take one last look at some granite slabs (though I have no expectations of finding anything since I am not a fan of the 'speckling'), see if there are any quartzites I like (real quartzites I mean - not the super whites etc) and then make a decision before I kill any more brain cells….we will probably make a decision between the caesarstone calacatta nuvo or LG's minuet - (I agree Sophie that you still need to take care of these) with 4 yr old twins eating/drawing etc at the island I think I will be a much more relaxed mommy!...See MoreUser
