If too many rotting figs got too wet...
Comments (3)Have you checked the bottom of your shoes? Sure you did not step in it! ":^) Just kidding. It did not get in there unless you put it in there accidentally with those leaves. My fig tree was really loaded down this year also. We made preserves, gave them away and I ate handfuls of the ripest ones every time I went around the tree, usually two or three times per day. I got sick of them (never thought that was possible) and got most of them instead of the birds, squirrels and insects. I am sure that it is probably the combination of the ingredients that you have put in there. You could add a good amount of browns to kill the odor. Something like dead leaves, shredded up straw or paper etc. And you may have it a little too wet. The odor should be gone when you are ready to use it and it should smell like good earth. A small amount of dog poo would not worry me if it was all well composted. Good luck with your compost. Bill P....See MoreSuggestions for offsetting too much caffiene
Comments (13)Oh, that is a terrible feeling. I try not to drink caffeine after a certain hour (in fact, due to my awful hot flashes these days I'm trying to cut it out *almost* entirely - it's hard to do though), but I find that if I exercise too late in the evenings, while I may fall asleep right away, I almost always wake up shortly after midnight with that wide-awake, jittery feeling. Not good! I tend to agree with others who have said that they wouldn't take any form of medication to try to sleep, though. When I've done that, I've always felt even more wiped out the following day than I would have if I'd just left things alone. I think the combination of the caffeine drug and the knock-you-out drug causes your body to fight itself too much. I've tried melatonin, but man, that stuff gives me wickedly bad dreams. That's a no-go for me. As has been said above, I don't think there's a quick and easy solution. You just do it a few times and learn that you simply can't have caffeine after a certain hour. (Sucks getting older, I know.)...See MoreHow many pets do you have? How many is 'too many'?
Comments (102)i lost my senior great dane girl 5 weeks ago to bone cancer. it was sudden and shocking and i still look for her. my remaining dane girl and eden were joined at the hip, pip took the loss very hard and had been grieving so much, it broke my heart. i contacted pip's breeder and one of her former co-owners and asked that they keep an eye out for any adults that any breeder friends might be considering a new home for (retired show dogs, etc.). the co-owner gave me the contact information for one of her people who had a dane boy she had been looking for just the right home for and the rest is history. meet "flighty foto my way", call name "frank". frank will be 4 years old on 5/31. he is a very sweet boy and he and pippin hit it off immediately at our meet 'n' greet friday. they do zoomies numerous times a day, sleep curled up together and are just a perfect pair. pippin is so much happier and that makes me happier. even though i miss eden terribly, i am beginning to heal now that pip is feeling better. frank is a bit on the thin side because he lived the last 4 weeks with a female dane who was going through a heat cycle and when that's going on, intact males ignore food, do a lot of pacing and fretting and routinely lose weight. he's eating like a horse so i'm confident he will gain and be back to his normal weight soon. i'm giving him a few weeks to settle in and then i'll make an appointment to have him neutered....See MoreHow many textures is too many textures?
Comments (9)Sometimes one space isn't big enough to fit all of our ideas. Save some for your next house. :-) It's important for us to know if the floor is going to change or you're keeping it. I am having trouble envisioning that shade of green with that floor, and adding marble and brick would be too much for my taste. I think marble and/or brick is only going to work if the floor is changed. It is pretty busy on its own. I also don't see why you need to paint all of the cabinetry in the adjacent rooms if you paint the kitchen cabinets. If you're still planning on moving in the not too distant future I would just replace the counter, but not with marble, something calmer, because the floor is making a statement. If you aren't planning on moving at all for quite a while then I guess there's no reason not to go crazy with what you like, but think on it for a while before jumping into anything. Painting cabinets is a lot of work when you do it right....See Moremichael19
